1st Conference to Honor Martyrs of Resistance Media held in Tehran

Tehran (ST) –The 1st Conference to honor the martyrs of resistance media was held in Tehran at the Iranian Radio and Television Corporation with the participation of delegations from Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Palestine, Yemen, Afghanistan and Iran.

The event was held under the patronage of the Iranian Foundation of Martyr and Veterans Affairs and the Islamic Radio and Television Union (IRTVU).

Commander of the IRGC’s Quds, Brigadier General Esmail Qaani, affirmed that “the media martyrs played an important role in the battlefields alongside the armed forces, and exposed the facts that the enemies have always tried to hide”. He stressed the important role the media plays in supporting the resistance axis.

For his part, head of the Martyr Foundation, Amir Hossein Ghasizadeh Hashemi, noted the importance of perpetuating the concept of martyrdom in the conscience of the masses.

He said: “Honoring the martyred journalists means honoring all humanity, as they sacrificed themselves to reveal the truth and expose the falsification of the hostile media”.

Secretary General of the IRTVU, Sheikh Ali Karimian, noted the important role played by the media and journalists in reporting facts.

He added: “Honoring the families of  resistance media’ martyrs is part of the gratitude for the sacrifices they offered.”

Syrian Deputy Minister of Information Ahmed Dawa stated that this honoring event comes in “appreciation of the value of martyrdom”. He stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation the resistance media outlets to expose the Western lies.

He expressed Syria’s gratitude to the Iranians and to all the people who supported the Syrians after the devastating earthquake.

The participants of the other countries stressed the importance of martyrdom, considering that honoring the families of the martyrs is an enhancement of the culture of steadfastness and resistance.

The conference concluded by distributing honorary shields to the media institutions in the participating countries. Ahmad Hamada, the Editor-in-Chief of “Al-Thawra” newspaper, received the honorary shield of the media martyrs in Syria.

The Syrian ambassador to Tehran Dr. Shafiq Dayoub and a number of Iranian officials and the families of the martyrs from the participating countries attended the conference.
