DAMASCUS, (ST)- The total number of people who have been quarantined since last February to make sure that they were not infected with Coronavirus has reached 2115, the Syrian Health Ministry announced on Saturday, pointing out that 1898 of them have left the quarantine centers after they tested negative while only 217 people stayed in the quarantine under follow-up in all Syrian provinces.
Assistant Director of the Ministry’s Contagious and Chronic Diseases section Atef al-Taweel, said in a statement that the ministry has nineteen quarantine centers and fourteen medical isolation centers in all provinces, indicating that some quarantine centers were also equipped by official parties and NGOs to be ready for use in case of need.
He affirmed that the Ministry continues to provide integrated medical care for all COVID-19 patients with different levels of infection and it emphasizes that the drugs included in the treatment protocol are available in the country.
The statement indicated that the ministry is facing the challenge of confronting Coronavirus pandemic and ensuring the medical equipments necessary to treat patients under the inhuman unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on Syria.
Maintaining these measures under the current critical circumstances facing all countries of the world, including those that have imposed the economic blockade on Syria, uncovers the falsehood of Western and American claims about protecting human rights, the statement stressed.
The statement called on western countries to respond positively to the international calls for terminating these politicized measures immediately and without preconditions.
It is to be noted that the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Syria reached 38.
five cases have recovered and two others have died.
