18 Palestinians injured, others suffocated in Tulkarm clashes

TULKARM, (ST) – At least 18 Palestinians have been injured during clashes with Israeli forces inside the campus of the Palestine Technical University (Kadoorie) in Tulkarm, the Palestinian news agency (WAFA)says.

It clarified that 3 Palestinians were injured with live rounds and 15 others with rubber-coated metal bullets in today’s clashes.

Further Palestinians, mostly university students, also suffocated due to the excessive use of teargas by the Israeli army to disperse the protestors.

The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, whereas those who suffered from suffocation were treated at the scene.

The university’s administration ordered all students to leave the campus due to the heavy military presence.

The university campus, located just close to the border fence with Israel, have been witnessing renewing clashes between Israeli forces and students during the past few days.

According to the university’s public relations department, tension has been running high at the campus due to Israeli forces’ continuous attempts to take over part of the campus’ land for the benefit of expanding a nearby Israeli military training base.

Israel closes main entrance to Qalqilia

Earlier WAFA quoted security sources as saying that Israeli army forces shut down the eastern and main entrance to the city of Qalqilia, North West of the West Bank.

The Israeli military claimed the closure came after a settler was run over by an unknown Palestinian driver who reportedly ran away from the scene shortly after the incident.

Israeli settler releases cows into Palestinian land

In the Eastern edge of Jenin ,Israeli settlers Sunday released cow herds into Palestinian-owned land – isolated by the Illegal Israeli separation wall– at the southern part of the village of Jalboun.

There has been fluctuating tension across the West Bank districts and Jerusalem since early October 2015, mainly due to provocative tours organized by Jewish fanatics to the city’s al-Aqsa Mosque compound, the third holiest place in Islam.

Over 79 Palestinians have been killedand 2.270 others have been injured by Israeli fire during an ongoing unrest in the West Bank since early October 2015.
