“Basmat Atir” a collective exhibition to encourage talented artists

A collective art exhibition entitled “Basmat Atir” for a group of fine artists opened recently at the Arab Cultural Center in Damascus.

The exhibition displayed 60 diverse paintings of different sizes for 50 artists. dealing with a variety of topics including women, flowers and nature. The paintings represent different artistic schools and styles, including  expressionism, romanticism, impressionism and realism.

Dr. Qatada Al-Zubaidi, the organizer of the exhibition and director of Basamat (fingerprints) team told Syria Times that the team was founded one year ago . It comprises about a hundred artists, plastic artists, poets, writers, doctors and lawyers.

“This exhibition is our second activity, we opened it after an open-air drawing workshop in which several teachers participated in training the participants of different ages including amateur and professional artists ” Dr. Qatada said.

“The exhibition aims at showing the participants’ talents to the people and encouraging them to draw”, She added,

Participant artist Sham Talas told Syria times : ” I participated in this exhibition with three paintings; the first one depicts an African mother, the second and the third paintings show motherhood which represents tenderness “.

Sham’s participation in the exhibition aims at making people familiar with her paintings.

Seham Mheisen, another participant, displayed three oil paintings depicting woman in different conditions, the quiete woman and the dreamy woman.

“I want to show the contradiction of woman and to express my thoughts. I used warm and calm colors, and I used a knife in drawings which expresses impressionism.” Seham said.

Seham aimed from her participation to show her works to others and to gain more experience.

For her part, artist Ghaida Al-Hindi participated with two paintings reflecting the woman who is the source of beauty, hope and dream.

Ghaida participated in collective exhibitions several times, because such exhibitions have a lot of diversity in themes and colors.

Basima al-Hariri, also a participant, displayed one oil painting depicting woman who dreams of a better life and flourishing future.

Basima like to participate in collective exhibitions to exchange experience with others.
