15 new Coronavirus cases confirmed in Damascus and its countryside, raising the number of total infections in Syria to 219
DAMASCUS, (ST)- 15 new coronavirus cases have been detected in Damascus and its countryside, raising the total number of infections in Syria to 219, the Health Ministry announced on Monday.
In a statement, the Ministry said that the new cases are for persons who had contact with other coronavirus infected people in Damascus and its countryside, pointing out that most of the patients show no symptoms, yet they are isolated for medical follow up procedures.
The ministry made it clear that confirming new infections affirms the need that all individuals should comply with personal protection measures, avoid crowds and contact, particularly with the elderly and with patients with chronic diseases.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Syria has so far reached 219 of which 83 have recovered and 7 have died, the ministry said.
Yesterday, 6 coronavirus cases were confirmed for persons who were in close contacts with people of Jdeidet al-Fadle. Among these infections were three from the health sector’s cadres.
It is to be noted that Jdydet al-Fadl town is now under a total lockdown. The aim is to prevent the outbreak of the pandemic and preserve public health and citizen’s safety.
