15 Foreign Tourists visit Archaeological sites in Daraa

DARAA, Apr.26, (ST)-A group composed of 15 tourists from Germany, Britain, Switzerland, the United States, and China visited the city of Bosra al-Sham in the Daraa countryside and got an idea about its archaeological sites.

British worker Derek Brown told the correspondent of the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) that his visit aims at exploring Bosra’s antiquities, expressed his admiration for the city and its ancient architectural style.

Michael Walley, an American businessman, underscored the need for preserving these rare artistic masterpieces as they constitute a rich heritage and significant material evidence of the succession of ancient civilizations in the region.

German Engineer, Santa Mislavin, pointed out the need for international organizations, especially those concerned with protecting world heritage, to play their true role in supporting the Syrian government in preserving these magnificent ancient monuments.

Yan An Victorin, a Chinese consultant, stressed the need for developing tourism industry in Syria, given its important assets, such as ancient civilization and stunning natural landscapes.

“We are working to spread the culture of peace, tolerance, and love that Syria enjoys in our countries,” said Swiss teacher,Sherwin Barnes. “We also call on the countries of the world to assist it in the process of reconstruction and to advance the wheel of progress and prosperity there.”
