Zakharova: The West is approaching a direct military confrontation with Russia

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the West, which supplies Ukraine with weapons, is approaching a direct military confrontation with Russia.

Russia Today website quoted Zakharova as saying in a press conference today: “The NATO countries continue as if they were competing with each other in pumping weapons and ammunition to Kiev regime, providing it with intelligence information, training Kiev regime’s soldiers and giving directions on how to conduct combat operations, and thus approaching the dangerous line of a military clash with Russia.”

Zakharova indicated that the total military aid provided by the West to Ukraine has already amounted to 42.3 billion dollars, and more than half of it came from the United States.

Zakharova explained that the countries that allocate such huge sums of money and supply Kiev regime with weapons are the donors and supporters of this very extremist activity, so NATO seeks to place the blame on anyone in order to deflect doubts from itself.

Regarding NATO maneuvers, Zakharova said that maneuvers around nuclear deterrence do not lead to stability in Europe, and de-escalation is still not a priority for the alliance, adding: This measure is an additional tension in light of the current situation.
