1,400 hectares of irrigated wheat harvested in Palmyra

Homs (ST): The area harvested from the irrigated wheat crop in the region of Palmyra in the eastern countryside of Homs is about 1,400 hectares, and the quantity marketed to grain silos is about 6,000 tons so far.

The head of the Palmyra Agriculture Department, Eng. Ahmed Youssef, stated in to news reporter that the agricultural plan for this season in Palmyra, which is being implemented in the Western Bayarat region, amounts to 2,800 hectares of irrigated wheat and 140 hectares of irrigated barley.

He added that the entire area has been harvested from the irrigated barley crop, indicating that seeds, fertilizers and fuel have been distributed to all farmers licensed for the harvesting process, and the delivery of diesel fuel to farmers is currently being monitored by allocating one liter for every 5 dunums for harvesting operations.

A number of farmers in the Western Bayarat region expressed their satisfaction with the provision of production requirements necessary for harvesters and machinery to facilitate grain harvesting and marketing.
