Sweida (ST) The deliberations of the 2nd day of the 13th Shahba Festival for Heritage and Arts in Sweida included a walk from the village of Qanawat to the village of Si’e with the participation of a number of archaeologists and the participants in the festival.
The participants were introduced to the archaeological monuments of Qanawat village including the theatre, the temple and the churches.
Deputy Chairman of the Historical Association in Sweida Hisham Abu Sa’ad said that the aim of the walk was to shed light on the archaeological sites spread in the area and call for the necessity of preserving these sites.
Chairman of the Historical Association in Homs Dr. Nazih Baddour said that the participants were briefed on the Roman sites spread in the area.
The activities of the festival, which will last until November 11th, started yesterday by opening a number of exhibitions.
