130 companies participate in the “Made in Syria” festival at Al-Jalaa Sports Hall

Damascus, (ST) –  In cooperation between the Damascus Chamber of Industry and its countryside and the governorate of Damascus, the 132nd edition of the monthly shopping festival “Made in Syria” was launched yesterday at Al-Jalaa Sports Hall in Damascus and will continue until the 7th of next February.

130 local industrial companies from various industrial sectors and from more than one governorate are participating in the course, during which they provide everything the family needs at prices that compete with those in the local markets.

A pavilion was dedicated to selling citrus fruits that are brought  directly from farmers in the shopping festival.

The Head of the Damascus Chamber of Industry and its countryside, Samer Al-Debs, said that the most important feature of this festival is the Chamber’s support for farmers by marketing their citrus products in cooperation with the Syrian Trade Establishment.

Al-Debs added that the participating companies offer large discounts for clothing and between 10 and 15 percent for foodstuffs, in addition to distributing purchase vouchers free for martyrs’ families.

In turn, a member of the Executive Office in the Damascus Governorate, Samir Jazaerli, indicated that the festival is an opportunity for companies to display their food and consumer products and sell directly to the consumer without any intermediary at reduced prices and with a small profit margin.

He stressed the importance of allocating a pavilion to sell citrus at a cost, which benefits farmers and consumers.

Member of the Board of Directors of the Damascus and Rural Chamber of Industry and Head of the festival’s organizing committee, Talal Qalaji, said that the festival’s organizing committee worked to provide marketing support to citrus producers by buying them from producers at good prices and selling them within the citrus pavilion at low prices.

General Director of the Syrian Trade Establishment Ziad Hazaa indicated that the establishment has worked through the festival to market the largest amount of citrus fruits of all kinds within the work plan established to support farmers.
