Khasa Al-Jo’a ( Stop hunger) is an initiative that was launched by the Saed association in Damascus on the first day of Ramadan at the Umayyad Mosque Square.
The initiative aims at feeding a large number of people, who are in need, during the holy month of Ramadan .
Saaed Association is a non-profit organization established in Damascus in2013and it offers humanitarian aid to people who are in need.
Essam Habbal , the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association said to Syria Times: “Khasa Al-Joua is an expression that has been used among people everywhere and it means we will offer food to you .
He added: “The initiative started 9 years ago, and the number of volunteers reached 120 young men and women… The volunteers work from the early morning in cooking and preparing food to make more than 4000 meals to be distributed to fasting people in all areas of Damascus”.
“Volunteers of different ages represent the enthusiasm and wellbeing that Syrians have. They also show the solidarity of Syrians and prove to the world that the years of war have not affected the good initiatives, which Syrians have always launched,” he added.
The volunteers work daily from 10 am till 6:00 pm, according to volunteer Salam Al-Ahmad.
Young volunteer, Amal Karkotli, works in washing vegetables to prepare them for cooking. She has been involved in the initiative since eight years ago, and she sees that voluntary charitable work can help people and meet their needs.
Ali Al- saeed, is another volunteer in the association and he believes that with humanitarian work we can help the people of our country during the current difficult circumstances that the country goes through.
