11341 Candidates Submitted Applications to Run for Parliamentary Elections

DAMASCUS- Registration for candidacy for the People’s Assembly’s (PA) elections was closed yesterday evening after 11341 candidates from all the Syrian provinces had submitted applications to run for the forthcoming elections to be held on April 13th, Head of the Higher Judicial Committee for Elections (HJCE) Hisham al-Shaar announced on Wednesday.

Concerned sub-committees will check the legality of the applications within five days and later announce the names of candidates accepted to take part in the parliamentary elections race, according to the HJCE.

Each candidate has the right to object to the decision of the committee within 3 days from announcing accepted names, the committee said.

The total number of the candidates reached 11341, distributed follows: 988 in Damascus, 817 in Damascus countryside, 1437 in Aleppo, 1048 in Aleppo areas, 386 in Idleb, 1800 in Homs, 700 in Hama, 1653 in Lattakia , 634 in Tartous, 311 in Deir Ezzor, 546 in Hasaka, 197 in Raqqa, 321 in Daraa, 263 in Sewida and 240 in Quneitra.
