105 Syrian athletes getting ready to participate in the 15th Arab Games in Algeria

Damascus – Syria will take part in the 15th Arab Games scheduled to be held in Algeria between July 5th and 15th under the supervision of the Federation of Arab National Olympic Committees. 105 Syrian athletes will enter competitions with other Arab players within 14 games including U-23 football, athletics, table tennis, boxing, wrestling, karate, judo, weightlifting, cycling, swimming, gymnastics, badminton, chess and special sports.

The activities of this sport event will be hosted by seven Algerian cities. The aim is to deepen Arab youth unity, enhance friendship among the Arab peoples and perpetuates the principles of the Arab Olympic Movement.

Head of the Syrian Olympic Committee Firas Mualla told SANA that the participation of the Syrian athletes in this Arab tournament has a special importance as it comes following a 15-year hiatus. He pointed out that the General Sport Federation have spared no effort to secure training camps in several countries, mainly Russia, Iran, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Iraq and other with the aim of preparing the teams for the Arab Games.
