Around 100 young volunteers from the Syrian Steps Adventure Club ‘HIKING’, Kulna Sawa group [ young musicians group] and Yoko group lit peace and hope candles during a march organized Friday evening in Damascus.
The youths moved from Tourism Ministry’s headquarters towards Mohafaza Square [Governorate Square] and Omayad Square where they drew Syria’s map with candles, according to the Syrian Arab news agency (SANA).
The agency quoted the ‘HIKING”s Head Samer al-Mousa as saying: “The march aims to express youths’ hope that crisis in Syria will end in 2016 and peace will be restored in 2017. It reflects the hope of Syrians for the return of peace to Syria in the new year.”
On his part, Nemer al-Akkad from the ‘Yoko’ Group said: ” we want to clarify that the year 2017 will be Syrian’s hope for the return of peace and reconstruction.”
While the volunteer Nour Ronbi from the same group declared that candles being held by the participating youths reflect hope and love which Syrians have in their hearts.
The march, organized by the ‘HIKING’ in cooperation with Tourism Ministry and Damascus Governorate, is a continuation of peace and hope march held on December 24th, 2016 in al-Azezeyeh district in Aleppo.
