100 Thousand Displaced Syrians Return Home Voluntarily from Jordan

AMMAN- A Jordanian official source has confirmed that 100 thousand Syrian refugees have returned home voluntarily since the beginning of the crisis in Syria.

According to the Jordanian “PETRA” News Agency,  a source from the Syrian refugees camps administration said that the return was done in accordance with the Geneva Convention  signed in 1951 and which provides for the refugees’  right to return to their country voluntarily regardless the security situation there.

The sources added that this voluntarily return is done in coordination between the Syrian refugee camps’ administration and the UNHCR.

News reports on the situation of the displaced Syrians in refugee camps in Syria’s neighboring countries have repeatedly stressed that the refugees were exposed to political, economic and ethical blackmailing. Women were sexually abused and children were forced to work aiming at exploiting this humanitarian issue to put media pressure on the Syrian government and at putting hand on the humanitarian aid sent to the refugees.

Associated Press had earlier revealed that some groups used to recruit Syrian refugees in al-Zaa’tari camp, train them in Jordan and send them to fight alongside the armed terrorist groups fighting the Syria state.
