President Al-Assad: the Warrior against Terrorism (8)

Terrorism is has never been a Syrian Phenomenon; extremist Islamic matrices have characterized this unfortunately international phenomenon. Syria has faced and defeated a frenzy terrorist phenomenon by Moslem Brotherhood gangs by the end of the seventies and beginning of the eighties of the last century. Actually some of those who supported such a frenzy phenomenon are themselves the same now who support the ongoing terrorism against Syrians, particularly some ewes, Jordan and the USA. The Late President Hafez Al-Assad was able to lead the battle of all Syrians against terrorism and to put an end to terrorism against Syrians.

Syria, a secular peaceful country under the only secular leadership in this part of the world, since the beginning of the 21st Century once more has been the target of terrorism. This very terrorism under many forms: occupation, threats, sanctions, derailed the ambitious plans of reforms and modernization, not to mention the heavy losses inflicted on all sectors of Syrian life. The US-made terrorism and Wahabi exported terrorism from dozens of countries mushroomed and escalated. Foolishly, Israel the occupier of the Arab land, embraced, hosted and sponsored by itself this terrorism! Here comes the historic role and leadership of the Syrian Army and its Supreme Commander, President Bashar Hafez Al-Assad, the man who has been defending heroically not only his country, the region but the whole world against terrorism.

H.E. President Bashar Hafez Al-Assad is indeed the world number one man in combating terrorism; he has been in words as well as in deeds leading every effort as to outline, define , combat and eradicate terrorism. Among the points to be highlighted to this effect and for this noble purpose are:

“The problem is not whether Bin Laden is dead or alive. The problem is that there is a certain reality that is aggravating hatred and tension among peoples. It is this reality and its causes that should be addressed instead of looking for certain persons.”

“The advent of the 21st century came while the world was astonished at the criminal act of 11th September last year in the United States, which we immediately denounced and condemned, specially that Syria suffered from terrorism and has experience in combating it.”

“In order that the fight against terrorism achieve its purpose, there should be a clear definition of terrorism and discrimination between it and legitimate struggle against aggression and occupation.”

“You are aware that Syria called for this several years ago, and you recall that the late President Hafez al-Assad called during his visit to Athens in 1986 for an international forum to define terrorism so that the peoples of the world may be fully aware of what they combat.”

“However, to our surprise there was a reversal of conceptions and theories, and there appeared that in the war against terrorism some conceived this war as a war against people, who strive to restore their rights.”

“There are terrorist operations in Iraq that claim the lives of innocent people; those we reject categorically. But there is also a resistance movement, and that's a different issue altogether -- a completely normal issue.”

“It also accused Saddam of having weapons of mass destruction. But seriously, if you ask Americans whether they've been successful at sealing the border with Mexico, they'll tell you that it's a very difficult proposition. We've made it very clear to the Americans that it's impossible to completely control our border with Iraq. But we also tell them that the war itself is what's causing the chaos. It's not exactly fair to make a mistake yourself and then start blaming others for it.”

"This new enemy that emerged in the nineties is our Islamic religion, the religion of justice, love and ethics, which was deformed in the media and education to look as a religion for killing, extremism and terrorism. Whenever there is unrest in any region in the world, fingers of accusation are pointed at Islam, even though there are no Moslems in that region. And every act of destruction or terrorism is considered done by a Moslem until the opposite is proven and most often the opposite is proven. But the accusation remains."

The True Revolutionaries

H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad's recent inauguration speech has outlined scores of important ideas, principles and guidelines; the most of which have indeed been the pioneering cornerstones of his transparent, frank, courageous, pragmatic and objective discourse. Among the highlighted by H.E. President Al-Assad is the Syrian Man. The Syrians, whose absolute majority elected His Excellency as the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, have been described by H.E. President Al-Assad and addressed as:

The Guardian Angel (10)

The path of President Bashar Al-Assad has been clearly outlined and mapped out to the tune of the Syrian masses and interests. Al-Assad's path of pragmatism, transparency, sovereignty, justice, peace, reason, and secularity has been targeted by almost every non-objective jealous leader!

The Syria Al-Assad's path has been made during more than 4 decades and especially made for the Syrians to follow. It is the path of sacrifices, martyrdom, work, and challenges. On this very path, not only the majority of the Syrians but every Syrian has been admitted to everywhere and every post in Syria. Learning has been for all and principles of equity prevailed. Syria has been moved from coup plagued country belonging to the elite of families from some cities into Syria for all families from all and every city.

Thus, the Syrians hand in hand continued and pursued the path; to the disappointment of the ewes, particularly of the Saudi and Qatari folks, and of course the old-new-colonials and US. These forces of evil allied themselves with their own made  cannibals and terrorists  as to end Syria. President Bashar Al-Assad has stood up to his words and principles; a fierce defense of His Syria and Syrians. He has been the Guardian Angel defending his country and people.

H.E. President Al-Assad masterfully defeated the aggressors inside Syria as well as in Iraq, Lebanon. President Al-Assad represented a phenomenon of nationalism, and thus he was the target. Those among the stupid who attacked him did not know that every national, honest and sincere person is but President Bashar himself, who is the only president in the world where one expects to see him alone driving his own car and with no body guard at all. Yes, His Excellency President Al-Assad is the Syrians guardian angel, and the majority of Syrians are his own bodyguards. Yes, our souls and blood we sacrifice for Bashar Al-Assad, under his leadership at least ISIS and Al-Qaeda affiliates  cannot eat our livers.

Better late than never! Hopefully the enemies of humanity, success and civilization would spare Syria during this presidential term the more of their presents of death and destruction. The Syrians are determined under the leadership of President Al-Assad, to pursue the path and continue the march of correction, reform and construction.

On July 17, 2007, His Excellency, President Bashar Al-Assad took the Constitutional Oath before the Syrian Parliament , for a new 7-year presidential term, following H. E. landslide victory of the May-2007-held Presidential Referendum, with a 97, 62 YES by 95.86 percent of the Syrian 12 million voters.

President Al-Assad delivered the much-awaited for Presidential- New- Term Inauguration Speech, to the standing ovation of Syria’s 250-member Parliament. H. Domestically, President Al-Assad highly lauded the Syrian Citizens " giant national unity" , pledging to be up to their choice, trust, and the great responsibility, asserting that " the challenges have made us -the Syrians- stronger and more able to confront " and withstand standing challenges; " The strong State is so through the strength of its citizens and their all-participation" where every citizen " knows his/her duties, as much as knowing rights,", and where every citizen " takes part -in the process of development and stability- as a main player,".

President Al-Assad pledged to continue the efforts as " to provide the appropriate political and political climate, build strong basics for the national economy" as to " improve sustainable standards of living" pointing to the hundreds of laws and legislations made for this purpose during the last seven years.

The Guardian Angel (8)

Since November 1970, we have paid a great attention to the national economy and built an economic base upon which the progress of society and the country’s growth have relied. We are committed to comprehensive development as a national responsibility to the State and society. We have developed agriculture and industry, built dams, big industrial installations, set up economic pluralism, encouraged talents, given opportunities to all to contribute to society’s development.

We have created solid economic and social base which has enabled us to complete our infrastructure, such as, electricity, roads, dams, potable water projects, schools, universities, hospitals, medical centers, social educational, cultural and health services, which have all contributed to raise our people’s living standards and meet their material and spiritual needs.

These big achievements push us to exert more effort and to shoulder responsibility and to realize social and economic increases which enables us to be competent partners in this world, strongly defending our rights and future.

We have to concentrate on balance in the national economy by working to increase production, expand the base of development and investment, reconsider Investment Law in order to close the gaps which prevented maximum benefit from it and make new investments.

We believe that developing and modernizing banking systems has become an urgent and necessary requirement. The government, in the next stage, should continue to develop agriculture, modernize agricultural investment methods, reduce production costs, discover new markets for agricultural products, so that this huge production will be turned into a supply source for the economy and not a burden on it. Also points of failure should be tackled in the process of land reclamation and dam building which have caused long delays in finishing the projects and increasing the costs ratio really, something which has caused the loss of additional revenues to the country.

“I call upon all Arab officials everywhere to adopt brave and responsible stances capable of reviewing the Arab situation critically and objectively with a view to setting up a new course of inter-Arab relations conducive to ending the state of conflict and to reaching the state of cooperation and solidarity.” The Late President added.

What makes us anxious today is the state of the Arab nation, their weakness, divisions and conflicts, fear of each other, fear of all the foreign dangers threatening them and working to impose hegemony and control on the Arab homeland, besides the Israeli aggression. Narrow regional interests surpassed pan-Arab interests and hence foreign forces were able to impose hegemony, and Israel was allowed to go on launching aggressions, to the extent that the Arabs were about to lose the potential for progress.

“Some talk about making peace with Israel while we refuse peace between us. Peace with Israel will not be achieved unless peace is materialized among the Arabs.”

All the efforts we have exerted and those made by the international community to establish a just and comprehensive peace based on Madrid’s terms of reference have not achieved objectives yet due to Israeli policies which have refused to abide by peace obligations, and are adamant to pursue the policy of settlement and annexation. We have spent years of negotiations with Israel and achieved some progress with the participation of the US on both sides’ agreement on two main issues: pullback to pre 1967 lines and principles of security arrangements.

“We are confident of restoring our occupied land in the Golan regardless of time, the might of aggressors and the circumstances of the Arabs.”

“Today’s world is likely to be converted into a forest where force dominates and the norms, principles and values for which nations have struggled are absent. No doubt that the absence of discipline, weakening the UN role and the imposition of hegemony on "third world" resources threaten peoples of the loss of freedom in achieving self-determination and determining their options. Nevertheless, the forces of hegemony talk about human rights while they are grossly violated.”

What is taking place in today’s world under the absence of the international balance is the domination of unilateral pole, the double criterion, the hegemony of monopolist superpowers, the great evolution in communications and informatics, the increasing gap between rich states and developing nations, the breaking out of regional wars and ethnic and clan conflicts in different parts of the world, the economic and cultural doctrine of globalization, the destruction of national borders and peoples’ identities and the stereotyping of peoples’ lives, conducts, moralities and priorities are altogether arousing fear and worries among nations.

“The homeland is a question of destiny, of the present and of the future. Let’s work to safeguard the home irrespective of great sacrifices.”

We have many duties to carry out in the forthcoming stage. The duties are demanded by the stage’s circumstances inside and outside the country. Our success in achieving those duties is connected with faithfulness in words and deed, with abidance by national responsibility, with seriousness in action, with self-confidence and with the love of the homeland. The burdens shouldered by Syria in the current stage require high degrees of responsibility.

The homeland is in need of much work, much sweat and blood of each citizen. The homeland is a question of destiny, of the present and of the future.

Let’s work to safeguard the home irrespective of great sacrifices. I promise citizens to be always with them in shouldering the home’s burdens. And this is why are ever immune to defeat because the Late President had left for us endless treasures of strategic relations with the real brothers in Iran, Russia, China, and worldwide. The Late President had left us with his own groomed and brought up great son, the president of all leaders.
