Syrian athlete Alaa al-Krad wins title the best wrestler in German Budesliga

Born in 2001, the talented Syrian freestyle wrestler Alaa Fadi al-Krad was able to win over his German competitors during youth wrestling tournaments in less than two years and captured the title of the best wrestler in the German Budesliga.

Syria’s Omar Khribin named AFC Player of 2017

Bangkok - Syria’s national football team member Omar Khribin has been rewarded for his outstanding year by being named the AFC Player of the Year for 2017, SANA reported.

The 23-year-old received the prize at the Asian Football Confederation’s Annual Awards in Bangkok on Wednesday.

In a statement after receiving his award, Khribin said “I will do my utmost to maintain this achievement by providing a good performance and achieving more in various continental and international championships.”

Khribin is the first Syrian player to be named as the continent’s best player.

Syrian National Basketball team beats Indian counterpart 74/57

New Delhi – Syrian National Basketball team on Sunday beat its Indian counterpart 74\57 in the match held in Bangalore city within the qualifications of the 2019 Basketball World Cup.

The Syrian team ended the first half of the game by 35/28 and beat the Indian team 74/57 at the end of the match.

The team will conclude the first round by meeting Lebanon on February 23rd, 2018, SANA reported.

Syrian karate team wins three medals in the 9th Arab Championship

Beirut – The national team for Kyokushinkai karate on Tuesday won three medals, two silvers and a bronze, within the 9th Arab Championship held in Beirut, Lebanon, with the participation of 159 athletes from Lebanon, Iraq, Palestine, Tunis, Egypt, UAE, Libya, and Syria, SANA reported.

The two silver medals were won by Khuder al-Salem and Mohammed Joumaa in the 55 kg and 65 kg categories respectively, while Lama al-Housami won the bronze for women under 65 kg.

Iraq vs. Syria football match ends in a tie
