Syria Olympic football team participates in China international match

Damascus, (ST) - Syria's Olympic football team will take part in a friendly match with China in preparation for the Asian finals to be held in the Thai capital Bangkok on the eighth of next month.

Our Olympic team will leave today for China to meet with Mali on the 8th of this month at 9:00 am and the Chinese team on the 11th of the same month at 1:30 pm and conclude their participation with the Tajik counterpart on the 14th of the same month at 21:00. 9 am.

Public Marathon will be held on Friday

On the occasion of International Handicapped Day and with the cooperation between Syrian Special Olympic Institution, Damascus Governorate, Ministry of Education and Damasco Group Institution, Damascus First Marathon for Special Needs will be held on Friday morning in Fayha Sports buildings.

Dr. Ahmad Al-Nabulsi (representing Damascus Governer), Director of Syrian Olympic Institution Tarif Qotrash, Director of Physical Education at the Ministry of Education Abdul Al-Hameed Al-Zureer and the Sports Director of the Olympics Talal Barneh will attend the Marathon.

2500 men and women will participate in the race which will start from Al-Fayhaa’ for a distance of 3 Km.


Syria's national football team is ranked 79th in the world, 9 in Asian and 8 in Arab team

Syria men's football team moved up four places to become 79th on the list of international rankings issued by FIFA today.

Our team became the ninth Asian after it was in eleventh place and they advanced two Arab ranks to become eighth.

Our team has achieved fifth victory in the double qualifying for the World Cup of 2022 and the Asian Cup of 2023. Our team won the Philippines twice 5-2, 1-0, Maldives 2-1, Guam 4-0 and China 2-1.

Barakat wins silver medal in Oman Desert Race

The Syrian expatriate athlete Emad Barakat ranked second and won a silver medal in Oman Desert Race which was held in Oman.

Barakat was born in Damascus 1963. He moved to live in Slovakia 1999 and got the Slovak nationality.

He participated in all international races as a Syrian, and raised the Syrian flag.

It is to be mentioned that Barakat won the World Championship in 2013 Morocco Desert race (250 km) title, the second place in Oman Desert race (165 km) for four times, the fourth place in Austria International Marathon (75 km) and the third place in Marathon races for seven times.


Hamshou wins the Grand Prix of the fourth stage of International Peace Championship

 Syrian Equestrian Ahmad Hamshou won the Grand Prix of the fourth stage of the International Peace Championship which was held in Basel Al-Assad Club, Damascus countryside.

Syrian Hamshou ranked first as he finished the race of (two halfs-145 cm) in (41.51 sec), while the Jordanian Ibrahim Bsharat ranked second (41.71 sec), Mohammad Joubrani ranked third (43.06 sec) and the Italian Loca Kwata ranked fourth (43.47 sec).

It is to be mentioned that Omar Hamshou won the third stage of the Grand Prix last week, while Ahmad Hamshou won the second stage and Sham Al-Assad won the first stage.
