Syrian People trust in the Iranian role underlined

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Syria does welcome the efforts exerted and contacts being made for solving the crisis in Syria, H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad underscored here Thursday.

Meeting the visiting Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Dr. Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and the accompanying delegation, President Al-Assad reiterated that the Syrian People trust in the Iranian role supporting throughout history the region people and their just causes.

The talks during the meeting dealt with the risks threatening the Syrian People as well as the people of the region because of the spread of terrorism and because of continued support to the terrorist organizations by some countries and powers which claim to fight terrorism.

The talks also touched upon the ideas presented at the international and regional arenas as to activate the political track for solving the crisis in Syria.

President Al-Assad Grants Archeologist Khaled al-Asaa’d Syrian Order of Merit of Excellent Degree

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ President Bashar al-Assad on Thursday granted the Syrian Order of Merit of excellent degree to archeologist Khaled al-Asaad, after death, for his great achievements in archeology, according to Legislative Decree No. 229 for 2015.

Al-Ass’ad, born in Palmyra in 1934, has a BA in History and a diploma in Education from Damascus University. In 1962, he worked as the Director of Palmyra Antiquities and then as Secretary of Palmyra National Museum from 1963 to 2003. He also made several important archeological discoveries in Palmyra.

The cancerous spread of terrorism should be encountered

 DAMASCUS, (ST)_ His Excellency President Bashar Al-Assad  underscored that the steadfastness and will are the best way for the realization of people's interests, in reference to the Iranians' steadfastness and unity with their leadership and commitment to their independent resolution which led to the recent signing of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) regarding Iran's peaceful use of nuclear energy.

Receiving the visiting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif, President Assad voiced the Syrians appreciation for Iran's firm support to their country, welcoming the sincere efforts exerted by Iran and friendly countries as to stop war launched against Syria and as to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Viewpoints regarding the best ways as to find a peaceful solution for the war launched against Syria were exchanged. Minister Zarif asserted that the Syrians' will should be the compass for whatever ideas to be proposed to this effect and away from foreign interference and in perseverance of Syria's territorial integrity and independence of decision.

Minister Zarif reiterated Iran's determination to pursue providing every support enabling the steadfastness of the Syrians alleviating their sufferings in the face of the bloody war launched against them by the organizations of terrorism.

collective regional and international efforts needed to eradicate terrorism

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad received here today Mr. Falih Al-Fayadh, the Iraqi National Security Advisor and envoy of the Iraqi Premier.

Talks during the meeting asserted that the all-out elimination of terrorism requires collective regional and international  efforts, based on constructive cooperation and on respect for states’ sovereignty and the interests of their people.

Terrorism recognizes no borders underscored President Al-Assad

 DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Terrorism recognizes no borders , and the spread of terrorism cannot be eliminated by a war nor by warplanes. Outlined H. E. President Bashar Al-Assad.

Terrorism is a sick thinking, deformed belief as well as an odd practice and should be eliminated from its roots, added H.E. President Al-Assad, blasting the Western approach in handling terrorism once it strikes at the West and as 'revolution', 'freedom' and 'human rights' once terrorism "strikes at us".

"The West tackling of terrorism is hypocrite with double standards," added President Al-Assad in a landmark speech, aired live on Syrian Satellite TV.
