President al-Assad appoints new governors for 5 provinces

  DAMASCUS, (ST)_President Bashar al-Assad has appointed new governors for provinces of Aleppo, Idlib, Lattakia, Quneitra, and Tartous.

The appointment of the new governors came in a legislative decree issued Wednesday.

President Al-Assad Refers State Budget Bill for 2015 Fiscal Year to PA

DAMASCUS, (ST)-President Bashar Al-Assad yesterday referred the state budget bill for the fiscal year 2015 to the People’s Assembly (PA) for discussion.

Earlier this month, the cabinet approved the budget bill at a total of 1554 billion (SYP).

President Al-Assad performs Eid Al-Adha Prayers in Damascus

 DAMASCUS, (ST) H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad performed Eid Al-Adha Prayers at Nouman Bin Bashir Mosque in Damascus.

Crowds of Syrians and top officials performed the prayer along with President Al-Assad.

 H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad performed last year's  Adha Prayers at Hassiba Mosque in Damascus.

Chairman of the Levant Scholars, Sheikh Mohamad Tawfiq Al-Bouti, delivered the Prayers ceremony, citing the sublime meanings of Eid Al-Adha and the importance of amity, and fraternity among the people of the homeland.

Sheikh Al-Bouti underscored the need for restoring the correct understanding of Islam, the religion of tolerance, amity, moderation and unity and never of division and extremism, highly lauding the role of the Syrian hero Army, who have exerted every effort  and sacrificed their blood in defense of Syria and the Nation.

H.E. President Al-Assad was embraced by the crowds of Syrians following the Prayers.

Syria's top officials from the State, Party, as well as several members of the People's Assembly, and crowds of citizens, Syria's Grand Mufti and men of Islamic religion performed the Prayers along with President Al-Assad. 


President Al-Assad: combating terrorism should be in line with international law

 DAMASCUS,(ST)- H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad underscored that combating terrorism should be in line with international law and its success needs the rallying of international efforts and cooperation with the region countries waging war against the threats and risks of terrorism.

H.E. President Al-Assad added during his meeting today with Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), Ali Shamkhani, that the fight against terrorism should be away from double standards, still pursued by the West, on top stands the USA, as to achieve undeclared agendas not of interest to the region people.

Confronting the extremist takfiri thinking disseminated by terrorists and fed by some regional countries is of no less importance of fighting those terrorists who slaughter, spread destruction and destroy the civilized heritage of the people, H.E. President Al-Assad pointed out.

The fighting against terrorism could not be carried out by the countries which contributed to the creation of the terrorist organisations, provided logistic and financial support to these organizations and spread terrorism worldwide, underlined H.E. President Al-Assad.

On his part, Mr. Shamkhani reiterated Iran's firm stand in support to Syria and to the steadfastness of Syrians in the war against terrorism, stressing Iran's rejection to whatever might threaten Syria's territorial integrity and unity and to whatever might violate Syria's sovereignty, safeguarded by international laws and conventions.

The talks during the meeting dealt with the standing close relations between both sisterly countries, the importance of continued bolstering of the standing strategic cooperation, the basic pillar for defending the interests of Syrian, Iranian, and of all the region people against standing challenges, on top of them the takfiri terrorism, threatening the near as well as far countries.

President Al-Assad: Syria determined to pursue the war against terrorism

 DAMASCUS, (ST)_ H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad reiterated Tuesday that Syria would decisively pursue the war it has been waging for years against the Takfiri terrorism in all of its forms.

Receiving the Iraqi National Security Advisor and envoy of the Iraqi Premier, Falih Al-Fayadh, H.E. President Al-Assad asserted that Syria supports any international efforts against terrorism, pointing out that the success of such efforts doesn't depend only on military action, but also on the commitment to related UNSC resolutions and their pending stipulations regarding the halting of whatever support  to terrorist organizations.

Assertion was laid during the meeting on the continued cooperation and coordination between the leaderships of Syria and Iraq as to eradicate the plague of  terrorism, given the fact that such cooperation and coordination yielded positive results for the people in Syria, Iraq, as well as in the region.

Mr. Al-Fayadh briefed H.E. President Al-Assad on the latest measures taken and the would be taken as to combat terrorism.

H.E. President Al-Assad reiterated last week that the fight against terrorism starts with exerting pressure on the countries which support and finance terrorist organizations and claim at the same time to be now fighting terrorism.

Receiving Al-Fayadh on September 16th,  H.E. President Al-Assad voiced relief over the standing cooperation with Iraqi leaderships in encountering the terrorist organizations, which resulted in positive outcomes for both countries and the region.

Mr. Al-Fayadh briefed H.E. President Al-Assad on the latest developments in Iraq and the efforts exerted by the government and people of Iraq to encounter terrorists.

Assertion was laid on the importance of the bolstering of coordination and cooperation between Syria and Iraq as to fight terrorism threatening both countries, the region as well as the entire globe.
