President Al-Assad: confronting takfiri thinking a must

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ The elimination of terrorism necessitates first and foremost confronting takfiri thinking exported by some countries as well as exerting efficient pressures on the sides involved in the financing and arming terrorists and facilitating their passage, underscored H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad.

Receiving a Russian Parliamentarian delegation chaired by  Mr. Ilyas Umakhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russian Federation, H.E. President Al-Assad called for serious efforts as to achieve the above stated objective and not for propaganda and just for showing off efforts.

H.E. President Al-Assad voiced the Syrians' appreciation for the principled policies of the Russian Federation in support of the stability of countries and of their independent decisions, asserting the importance of continued coordination between Syria and Russia at all levels, particularly at the parliamentarian level as to confront terrorism and extremist ideas, strange to our societies.

The Russian Parliamentarian delegation reiterated Russia's continued stances by the Syrian People in bolstering of its steadfastness against terrorism.

Russia has been committed to international laws, respecting the sovereignty and integrity and independency of states.

President Al-Assad: need for genuine and sincere international cooperation against terrorism

 DAMASCUS, (ST)_ The region is living in a turning point situation and the direction is to be defined by the steadfastness of the Syrian People, the stances by friendly countries, as well as by other international sides' conviction in the danger of terrorism against the regional and world stability and in the need for genuine and sincere  international cooperation against terrorism, outlined H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad.

In a Baath Arab Socialist Party (BASP) meeting with Tartous Branch, H.E. Al-Assad, the Regional Secretary General of  BASP pointed out that the crimes perpetrated by terrorist organization in Syria and by Daesh in particular came as a result of the aggressive and faulty policies pursued by the sides involved in the war against Syria, asserting that the said sides spared no effort as to support, finance terrorist organizations as to destroy Syria and strike against the Syrian People unity, security and stability.

H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad reiterated that the Syrian Armed Forces would pursue the fight against terrorist organizations, asserting the importance of national reconciliations, welcoming any efforts in boosting these reconciliations and in exerting pressures on the countries supporting terrorists with money, weapons and terrorists.

H.E. President Al-Assad highlighted the role of the BASP especially during the ongoing crisis, asserting the need for the bolstering of this role as well as the importance of dialogue among the BASP members as to face the standing and coming challenges.

President Al-Assad: the safety of civilians in every Syrian spot priority

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ President Bashar Al-Assad discussed here today with the visiting UN Special Envoy, Staffan De Mistura, the proposal presented by De Mistura to the UN Security Council regarding the situation in Syria.

In their meeting, De Mistura briefed President Al-Assad on the main points  and objectives of his initiative regarding the freezing of fighting in the city of Aleppo.

New governors of Aleppo, Idlib, Lattakia sworn in before President al-Assad

DAMASCUS,(ST)_Newly-appointed governors of Aleppo, Idlib and Lattakia were sworn in Sunday before President Bashar al-Assad.

The governors, who were appointed in a legislative decree issued four days ago, are: Mohammad Marwan Olabi, Kheredden al-Sayyed and Ibrahim Kheder al-Salem respectively.

The president received the governors separately and wished them success in their missions.

President al-Assad appoints new governors for 5 provinces

  DAMASCUS, (ST)_President Bashar al-Assad has appointed new governors for provinces of Aleppo, Idlib, Lattakia, Quneitra, and Tartous.

The appointment of the new governors came in a legislative decree issued Wednesday.
