President Al-Assad awards Lt. General Ali Aslan the Syrian Order of Merit of Excellent Degree

DAMASCUS, (ST)_President Bashar Al-Assad awarded former chief of staff of the Syrian Army Lieutenant General Ali Aslan the Syrian Order of Merit of the Excellent Degree, in appreciation for his role as a military commander and his heroism as a brave combatant and officer on the battlefields as well as his 7 decade-long career.
 
Lt. General Aslan is one of the most prominent commanders of the Syrian Army. He was born in 1932 and occupied several military positions, including the commander of Syrian forces working in Lebanon and the army’s Chief of Staff in Syria, then as advisor at the presidency in 2003 until today.
 
He joined the military Academy in 1952 and he was one of the most prominent commanders in the Liberation War of Tishreen  of 1973.
 
While he was Deputy Chief of Staff, the armed forces confronted the Muslim Brotherhood groups in Syria and the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982.
 
Aslan wrote a number of military books and put  forwards several military theories which have been fruitful  during the Syrian army's wars against the Israeli enemy and terrorism.
