President Al-Assad Receives Letter from Pope Francis

DAMASCUS, (ST)-President Bashar Al-Assad on Monday received a letter from His Holiness Pope Francis of Vatican delivered by Cardinal Peter Turkson, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.

The Pope stressed his support for restoring stability in Syria and for stopping the suffering of the Syrians because of the war.

Talks during the meeting focused on latest developments in Syria.

President Al-Assad talked about the crimes being committed by the terrorists, who still have positions in some areas particularly in Idleb, against Syrian civilians. He also talked about the support being provided by some regional and western states to the terrorist organizations to help them continue their crimes against the Syrians.

President Al-Assad: Syrian-Russian Relations Based on Mutual Respect and Confidence

DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad and his Russian Counterpart Vladimir Putin on Sunday exchanged congratulations on the 75th anniversary of establishing the Syrian-Russian diplomatic ties.

In his cable of congratulation, President Al-Assad  stressed that relations between Syria and Russia are based on mutual respect and confidence and that Russia has throughout history proved that it is a great state in terms of respecting international law and peoples' will, noninterference in the internal affairs of other countries, keenness on establishing security and stability in all parts of the world, disseminating the values of amity and peace vis a vis terrorism and extremism which is backed by some countries to serve their own interests.

Syria, Russia Discuss Efforts to Achieve Progress in Forming Constitutional Committee

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Continuous efforts to achieve progress in the political process in Syria, mainly regarding the formation of the committee for discussing the constitution, were the main theme of President Bashar Al-Assad's meeting on Friday with Russian President’s Special Envoy to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin and the accompanying delegation.

President Al-Assad, Oman Foreign Minister Discuss Political, Economic Challenges Facing Entire Region

DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad and Oman’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawai discussed during a meeting on Sunday in Damascus the political and economic challenges facing the entire region and means to confront these challenges.

Talks also dealt with regional and international developments, mainly the schemes aiming to cancel the historical rights of the Arabs under the current crises and critical conditions the region is passing through.

President al-Assad holds open dialogue with Syrian Syriac Catholic youths

SYDNAYA,(ST)_ President Bashar al-Assad held today an open dialogue with the Syrian Syriac Catholic youths during their camp kicked off on Tuesday under the title ‘My Hope is in You’, according to the Syrian Presidency website.

The dialogue was held at the Monastery of ST. Thomas in Sydnaya, located north of the city of Damascus.

The president asserted that Christians in Syria have been and still builder of its civilization, and they- alongside their Muslim brothers-  have conveyed Syria’s human and civilized message to the whole world.
