International Condemnation of US-Led Aggression on Syria

 CAPITALS, (ST)- World leaders and officials' on Saturday strongly condemned the tripartite aggression carried out by the US, the UK and France on Syria.

Putin: Aggression exacerbating humanitarian catastrophe in Syria

In Moscow, Russia strongly condemns the US-led aggression on Syria, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Saturday.

"Russia strongly condemns the attack on Syria where Russian servicemen are helping the legitimate government in the war on terrorism," the Kremlin press office quoted Putin as saying.

 "By its actions, the United States is increasingly exacerbating the humanitarian catastrophe in Syria and bringing sufferings to civilians and actually conniving at terrorists who have been tormenting the Syrian people for seven years and provoking a new wave of refugees from that country and the region as a whole," Putin said.

The Russian president pointed out that the United States used a staged chemical attack against civilians to carry out a strike.

"One again, just like a year ago when the US attacked Shayrat Airbase in Syria, a staged chemical attack against civilians was used as a pretext, this time in Douma, a Damascus suburb. Russian military experts who visited the site of the alleged incident found no traces of the use of chlorine or other chemical agents. Not a single local resident confirmed that a chemical attack had taken place," the Kremlin press service quotes him as saying.

Ayatollah Khamenei: US, UK, French attack on Syria ‘a crime’

In Tehran, leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei condemned the joint airstrikes by the US, the UK and France on Syria as “crime,” describing the leaders of the three Western states as “criminals.”

 “I clearly declare that the US president, the French president and the UK prime minister are criminals and have committed a crime,” the Leader said on Saturday.

The three countries, Ayatollah Khamenei said, "will achieve nothing and make no benefit, as they have been in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan in the past few years, and committed such crimes but have not profited from them.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the US aggression in the region “will have no result but annihilation and destruction,” adding that the aggressors “seek to justify their presence in the region through these attacks.”

The aggressors are angry about the defeats of the terrorists they supported in Syria’s Eastern Ghouta region, he pointed out, stressing, however, that the Syrian people will keep up their resistance.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry said the aggression constitutes a blatant violation of the international law as well as the sovereignty of the Syrian state, warning of the regional and international repercussions of such act.

It held the US and its allies responsible for the consequences of this adventure, indicating that Tehran rejects the use of chemical weapons as well as making it as a pretext to attack a sovereign state.

Bolivia condemns tripartite aggression on Syria

In La Paz, President of Bolivia, Evo Morales, strongly condemned the US-British-French aggression on Syria on Saturday at dawn.

According to SANA, President Morales said on Twitter that on the name of dignity and in defense of peace and world nations, he strongly condemns the insane aggression of the US President Donald Trump against the brotherly people of Syria.

President Morales added “yesterday, they claimed the presence of fake weapons of mass destruction for invading Iraq and today they are firing their missiles under the same pretext.”

Hezbolla: Aggression is frank and direct support to criminal terrorist gangs

In Beirut, Lebanese Hizbollah said that the tripartite aggression constitutes a flagrant violation of the Syrian sovereignty and a clear support to the Israeli latest aggression on Syria.

Reiterating support to Syrian people and leadership, the Party stressed that the tripartite aggression is a frank and direct support to the criminal gangs and terrorism to which they provided financial, political and media support.

The source reiterated that the pretexts and excuses on which the aggression relied on were baseless that based on a failed scenario which was exploited to carry out this aggression.

China: Any military action that bypasses UNSC is violation on Intel. law

In Beijing, China expressed rejection of any use of force in the international relations, calling for respecting sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of other states.

 "Any unilateral military action that bypasses the UN Security Council contradicts the UN Charter principles and violates norms of the international law and the basic criteria that govern the international relations and would complicate the crisis in Syria,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said in a press conference commenting on the US-British-French tripartite aggression on Syria, according to SANA..

She added that China urges the relevant parties to turn back to the international law and solve the issue through dialogue and negotiation.

With regards to the alleged chemical attack, Hua said that China called for a full, fair and objective investigation until reaching reliable results, adding that no prejudgments should be given.

Belarus urges stop of using force against a sovereign state

Belarusian Foreign Ministry,  in a statement, called upon all relevant sides to promptly stop using military force against other states and to find out other means for settling the crisis in a peaceful way.

The Ministry pointed out that any steps to respond on the use of chemical weapons should rely on unambiguous facts as they should be implemented in accordance to criteria of international law, pointing out that these criteria were not taken into account during the aggression on Syria.
