Saudis, allies to boost aid to Takfiris, report says

Saudi Arabia and its allies in the Gulf region will ‘strengthen military support’ for the foreign-backed Takfiri militants in Syria, says a US daily.

The Washington Post reported on Sunday that the move came after a decision by US President Barack Obama “not to launch airstrikes against Syria.”

“the Gulf countries, led by Saudi Arabia, are moving to strengthen their military support for Syrian rebels and develop policy options independent from the United States,” the Post stated, according to Press TV.

The US daily also said that the Saudis plan to “expand training facilities they operate in Jordan.”

The report came as US Secretary of State John Kerry was scheduled to arrive in Saudi Arabia on Sunday as part of efforts to repair Washington’s frayed relations with Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia’s spy chief Prince Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud said last month that Riyadh’s ties with Washington have been deteriorating for a while over several issues including Syria.

According to some Gulf officials whose names were not mentioned in the Post article, a parallel operation independent of US efforts is being discussed by the Saudis with other countries in the region.

In September, Saudi Arabia guaranteed to continue its financial and logistic support for the "militants", including terrorist al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front, during a meeting held in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

Palestinians mark anniv. of signing of "Balfour Declaration"

Palestinians from the occupied West Bank and Gaza have held sit-ins marking the anniversary of the signing of the "Balfour Declaration". They say the signing of the 1917 document paved the way for the creation of "Israel" and their subsequent misery.

Palestinians marked the anniversary of the signing of the "Balfour Declaration" by holding sit-ins outside of the United Nation headquarters in Gaza and the West Bank.

The "Balfour declaration" was a letter written by then British Foreign Secretary Authur James Balfour to the Zionist leader Lord Rothschild in 1917. The letter soon became a catalyst which led to a mass immigration of Jews from all around the world to the land of Palestine.

Palestinians state that the declaration paved the way for the creation of Israel at the expense of displacing Palestinians and their mass ethnic cleansing. They say they will never give up their right of return to their homeland.

I spoke to Palestinian refugees in Aida refugee camp in Bethlehem, who explained to me that, the "Balfour Declaration" led to the 1948 Nakba or the Catastrophe, when Israelis forced 400,000 Palestinians to flee from their homes, Press TV correspondent reported.

Bahrainis Protest against Al-Khalifa Regime

Thousands of Bahrainis demonstrated in response to the opposition calls, demanding a political solution to the country's 32-month-long crisis, according to FNA.

On Friday, the demonstrators chanted slogans demanding democracy, justice as well equality, held the photos of the Bahraini victims and detainees and called for the resignation of the country's Prime Minister who also happens to be the uncle of the King.

"We demand an immediate release of all prisoners," they chanted according to an Islam Times report.

The final statement denounced the oppression and tyranny practiced by the regime and called for the immediate release of all Bahraini detainees.

Moreover, Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society addressed the Public Prosecution Office in response to the illegal raid carried out by the regime forces. The raid took place amid a security siege on Al-Wefaq offices in Qufool area, in the capital Manama, preventing the Society’s members from reaching the building and barring those who were inside from communicating with their families or anyone outside the building.

Al-Wefaq stressed that the measure taken by the regime is an infringement to the political associations’ law in Article 19 which states that the offices of the Society as well as its documents, posts and communications, are protected by law and it is illegal to spy on a society or confiscate its possessions without a judicial decision. All measures should be taken in accordance to the law. It is against the law to inspect the offices of a society or investigate an alleged crime without a decision made by the General Prosecutor and with the presence of representatives of the Public Prosecution Office and the society. Shall the society’s representative refuse to show up, this will be mentioned in the inspection statement. If these procedures are breached, the inspection and its results are void. By also violating the Criminal Law procedures, which imply the presence of the owner of the real estate, or person in charge, the inspection is considered illegal.
