Erekat calls on the European Union to recognize the Palestinian state

Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization Saeb Erekat has renewed his call to the European Union states to recognize the state of Palestine from the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He called on the European Union to adhere to international legitimacy resolutions, foremost of which is Resolution 194, which affirms the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes.

WAFA News Agency quoted an article published on January 19, by Erekat under the title "It is the European Union's duty to recognize Palestine".

Erekat said that recognition of Palestine in itself will not end the Israeli occupation, but it is a decisive step that respects the right of Palestine to self-determination and helps progress in settling the Palestinian issue based on international law and decisions International legitimacy.

Erekat called on the European Union countries to abide by the decision of the European Court of Justice on freezing the partnership agreement between them and Israel.
