Iraqi demonstrators condemn US intervention in Iraq

BAGHDAD, (ST)- Thousands of Iraqis took to the streets of Baghdad and four other provinces on Friday to demonstrate against the US intervention in their country, according to the Syrian News Agency SANA.

Under the slogan "Expel the American Joker" thousands of demonstrators gathered at the squares of Tahrir and al-Khillani in Baghdad and at other main squares in the cities of al-Diwaniyeh, Najaf, al-Naseriyeh. They chanted slogans against the Zionist enemy, the US intervention in Iraq and other countries of the region and the Saudi-led coalition against Yemen. They also called for isolating a group of thugs who sneaked into the ranks of the protesters wearing suspicious American joker masks.

Dignitaries representing Iraqi tribes as well as intellectuals and activists from different Iraqi provinces took part in Baghdad demonstrations where they called for peaceful protests, no acts of vandalism and the continuity of work at schools and universities.
