Lavrov stresses need to eliminate terrorism in Idleb, support Syria reconstruction and facilitate refugees’ return

MOSCOW, (ST)-The crisis in Syria should be solved based on UN Resolution No. 2254 as well as on the results of the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi and Astana format, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during a press conference with his Bahraini counterpart on Wednesday, stressing the need to eliminate terrorism in Idleb, support the process of reconstruction in Syria and facilitate the Syrian refugees’ return.

The unanimously adopted Security Council Resolution No. 2254 stresses that only the Syrians have the right to decide the future of their country away from foreign interference and it excludes terrorist organizations from any political process.

 On Washington’s announcement on the Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian lands, Lavrov said the Israeli settlement activities are rejected and they increase tension in the region.
