Rouhani: Washington supports terrorism in Syria. Syrians decide their future

On September 15, Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said that it is the Syrian people who decide the future of their country, stressing the need to give the necessary support to Syria to restore stability and security to all its regions.

In a press statement ahead of his departure to Ankara to attend the Meeting of Presidents of State Guarantors (Russia, Iran and Turkey) of the Astana peace process on Syria scheduled be held today (on September 16).

Rouhani pointed out that the most important topics to be discussed at the meeting are the fight against terrorism, the return of displaced Syrians and the reconstruction of Syria.

He stressed that Syria's neighboring countries should support the Syrian government in restoring stability and security to Syria.

Rouhani said that the United States supports terrorism in Syria and should stop its intervention because it has led to the spread of terrorism.

He pointed to the presence of illegal armed and terrorist elements in northeast of Syrian, which makes it “an unsafe zone”.

Rouhani stressed that the United States must stop its intervention in Yemen and the region because its interventions cause the spread of terrorism and destabilization. He said that Washington supports the Saudi regime in its aggression against the Yemeni people.

Rouhani called for solving the problems of the region through dialogue, pointing out that his country wants peace in the region and it is ready for friendly relations with all neighboring countries.
