Nasrallah: Israeli War On Lebanon in 2006 Aimed to Undermine Resistance, Create New Middle East

BEIRUT, (ST)- The goal of the Israeli war on Lebanon in 2006 was to undermine resistance in Lebanon, Palestine and Iraq, overthrow the Syrian government, isolate Iran and create a new Middle East,  Secretary General of Hizbollah, the Lebanese resistance movement, Hassan Nasrallah has stressed.

Commemorating the 13th anniversary of the victory of the Lebanese resistance over the Israeli enemy in July 2006, Nasrallah said in a televised statement that "the war was orchestrated by the United States. Israel was only a tool in this war." He pointed out that if the war had succeeded  in achieving its goals, the US would have dominated the entire region.

The Secretary General of Hizbollah affirmed that Syria has withstood the global war and it is now moving steadily towards complete victory.

He asserted that the war stopped because America and Israel had realized that they couldn't achieve the goal of this war and because Lebanon and the Lebanese resistance and people managed to keep strong and steadfast.

He pointed out that to cover its defeat on the ground, Israel committed several massacres against Lebanese civilians.

Nasrallah reiterated that "today, the resistance is stronger and if Israel repeats the war we will triumph again and the Israeli enemy won't be able to defeat us at all."

Elsewhere in his remarks, Nasrallah described Iran as a major regional superpower, saying that threats of a war against the Islamic Republic have retreated because Trump came to realize that Iran is not an easy target.

He affirmed that “war against Iran means the entire region will be set on fire".
