The Turkish occupation continues to deprive citizens in Hasaka of having access to potable water for the seventh day

 The Turkish occupation and its mercenaries continue to prevent the Syrian citizens in Hasaka city from having  access to drinking water by preventing water pumping from Allouk water station to the city for the seventh consecutive day, thereby threatening the lives of a million people.

Eng. Mahmoud Al-Okla, Director of the Hasaka Water Establishment told SANA reporter that the Syrian government in cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) and the International  Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) are intensifying efforts to ensure water to citizens in order to alleviate the impacts of the Turkish occupation's crime of cutting water supplies.

Russia reaffirms its commitment to Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity

The Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa Michael Bogdanov has reaffirmed his country's commitment to Syria's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.

A statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday that during a meeting with Syria's Ambassador to Russia Riad Haddad on Friday,  Bogdanov stressed Russia's firm support for Syria's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity and for the Syrian people in the confrontation of international terrorism.

Bogdanov-Haddad meeting focused on developments in Syria as well as on enhancing the Russian-Syrian cooperation mainly in  reconstructing the economic and social infrastructure in Syria.

In a relevant context, Bogdanov and The UN Chief's Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen discussed in  a phone conversation preparations to hold meetings of theu fifth round of the Syrian Constitutional Committee.

Three gunmen killed in explosive device attack near Al-Omar Oilfield in Deir Ezzour countryside

   Three gunmen were killed when an explosive device went off in a Hummer military vehicle in the vicinity of Al-Omar Oilfield in the eastern countryside of Syria's Deir Ezzor where the US occupation forces have established a military base.

Local sources told SANA that it has not been verified yet whether the killed gunmen were from the American occupation forces or the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) militia.

The sources added that following the explosion, the SDF militia, backed by US occupation forces, stormed Rweishid village, kidnapped more than 50 civilians and took them to an unknown destination.

Areas in the Syrian Al-Jazira, where groups affiliated to the US-backed SDF militia are positioned, have been witnessing repeated attacks targeting this militia's points and military vehicles. Dozens of SDF militants were killed and wounded over the past period.

Bogdanov, Pedersen discuss preparations for holding the fifth round of the Constitutional Committee on Syria

Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Michael Bogdanov and the UN Chief's Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen discussed during a phone conversation on Friday preparations for holding the meetings of the Fifth Round of the Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva between January 25-29, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

 The two diplomats affirmed the importance of continuing the Syrian-Syrian dialogue with the help of the United Nations and reiterated the need to go ahead with finding a solution to the crisis in Syria based on the Security Council Resolution No. 2254.

The ministry pointed out that the two sides are willing to further coordinate efforts that aim  at creating a constructive atmosphere for the dialogue.

Syria affirms its legitimate right to defend the sovereignty of the Syrian territories and protect its citizens against Israeli attacks by all legitimate means

Damascus (ST): The Foreign and Expatriates Ministry affirmed that the criminal Israeli aggression in the vicinity  of Hama city today constitutes a flagrant violation of the sanctity and sovereignty of Syrian territories, as well as a blatant attack on  Human Rights and International Law, calling on the United Nations and the Human Rights Council to assume their responsibilities in condemning these attacks.

In a letter sent to the UN  Secretary-General, the President of the UN Security Council and the President of the Human Rights Council, the Ministry said “ On Friday 22/ 1 /2021, Israel committed a new aggression on the lands of the Syrian Arab Republic in the vicinity of the city of Hama.  As a result, a family  constituting a father, a mother, and two children were killed. Four other citizens from the same family were wounded, and a number of innocent civilians' homes were destroyed.

Al-Hasaka: Running tanks to secure water as the Turkish occupation continues to stop pumping from Allouk station

Hasaka (ST): Hasaka City Council ran a number of tanks in the center of the  city to deliver water to citizens for household use, in light of the Turkish occupation cutting off drinking water and stopping the Allouk station for the sixth consecutive day.

In a statement, president of the city council, Eng. Adnan Khajo, stated that the council had allocated  three tanks to transport and secure water suitable for household use from wells belonging to the Hasaka City Council in order to alleviate the suffering of citizens due to water shortage caused by  the suspension of pumping from the Allouk station by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries and depriving about a million people from water.

 He pointed out that the Council has drilled during the last period 28 wells in several areas in the city center, in cooperation with the High Commission  for Refugees.

Patriarch Ephraim II & world church leaders demand that Biden cancel coercive measures imposed on Syria

Damascus (ST): Patriarch Mar Ignatius Ephraim II, Patriarch of Antioch and the Whole East, for the Syriac Orthodox Church, the supreme president of the Syriac Church in the world, called on US President Joe Biden to lift the unilateral coercive measures being imposed on Syria that target its people for their livelihood and worsen their suffering in light of the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic. 

In a letter sent by Patriarch Ephraim II and a number of church leaders and politicians around the world to Biden on the occasion of his assuming presidency they said that the immediate annulment of these measures has become an urgent issue in light of the outbreak of the Corona pandemic and its coincidence with the difficult conditions and the repercussions that these illegal measures have left, especially on the health sector.
