An attack targets Al-Jibseh-Al-Rayan gas pipeline in Abu Khashab area in Deir Ezzor, causing fire to break out on the site

The Al-Jibseh-Al-Rayan gas pipeline in Abu Khashab area in Deir Ezzor countryside was exposed to an attack on Saturday that caused fire to break out on the site, according to the Ministry of Oil.

In a statement, the ministry said that the pipeline went out of service and firefighters and maintenance teams immediately started work to extingiush the fire and fix the damage caused to the pipeline, so that gas pumping can be resumed as soon as possible.

Gas pipelines in Syria have been the target of repeated attacks during the terrorist war on Syria, the biggest of which was the explosion of the Arab gas pipeline in Al-Dmeir area in Damascus countryside last August. This attack took place in parallel with the crimes of stealing and smuggling Syria oil from the Syrian Al-Jazira region by the US occupation forces and the US-backed militia called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
