A new batch of displaced Syrians return from refugee camps in Jordan via Nassib border crossing

Daraa – Tens of displaced Syrians in refugee camps in Jordan returned via Jaber-Nassib border crossing within efforts exerted by the government to make those who were displaced due to terrorism come back to the homeland.

SANA from Nassib border crossing said that tens of people including children and women came back home from refugee camps in Jordan through the border crossing, adding that they are to be transported to their hometowns liberated by the Syrian Arab Army from terrorism.

SANA clarified that authorities sent several buses to transport the returnees to their hometowns after finishing the entry procedures and providing medical services to those in need for them.

Authorities have secured the infrastructure and the basic services to the liberated towns so that the returnees could conduct their normal activities.

Russia: Territories where US forces are present illegally must return under Syrian state’s authority

Moscow – The Russian Foreign Ministry affirmed the need for territories where US forces are present illegally to return under the Syrian state’s authority.

In a press conference on Wednesday, reported by SANA, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that the decision to withdraw the US forces should help the political settlement of the crisis in Syria, although there is a lack of clarity in the timetable for this withdrawal.

She noted that the possibility that the US forces could continue carrying out attacks in Syria after their withdrawal continues to raise questions.

Zakharova also said that there are plans to continue communications using the Astana formula for resolving the crisis in Syria as soon as possible.

Central Bank releases new SYP 50 coin into circulation

Damascus – The Central Bank of Syria released a new SYP 50 metal coin, SANA reported.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Central Bank said this new coin was released into circulation as of today, and this is done to meet the need for small-value currency, specifically SYP 50 currency.

The new coin bears the coat of arms of the Syrian Arab Republic and the date of minting on one side, and an image of the Unknown Soldier Monument on the other.

Al-Moallem receives credentials of new Ambassador of Belarus

Damascus – Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem on Wednesday received a copy of the credentials of Yuri Sluka, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Syrian Arab Republic, SANA reported.

Talks during the meeting touched on bilateral relations and means to boost and develop cooperation between the two countries to benefit their people.

At St. George Patriarchal Syriac Orthodox Church, mass was presided upon by Patriarch Mar Ignatius Aphrem II, who talked about the meaning of Christmas, saying that when peace and love manifest in relations and actions among people and they avoid injustice, peace will reign in the world.
