Al-Jaafari- Syria-Related Decisions of Human Rights Council Based on Unilateral Information

NEW York- Syria-related decisions provided in the recent Human Rights Council's report were based on unilateral information and were consistent with political plans of some countries which don't want the good to Syria and its people, stressed Syria's UN Permanent Representative Bashar al-Jaafari.

Al-Jaafari, who was speaking at the UN General Assembly's meeting, said that no single article in the report had called for stopping the terrorist acts perpetrated by the armed terrorist groups against the Syrian state and citizens. The council's report also didn’t call for disarming the terrorist groups or urge sponsoring countries to halt their military, political and media support to gunmen.

"Reports by terrorism-fighting committees of the UN Security Council prove that terrorism in Syria is being supported, added al-Jaafari, pointing out that these reports are documented in details with names and figures in the Council's archive.

The UN Syria Representative also said that the report ignores the critical economic and humanitarian situation in Syria caused by the unilateral economic procedures and sanctions imposed by the European Union, the United States and the Arab League on the Syrian people.

He stressed that though such procedures threaten states' sovereignty and violate the UN Charter and human rights principles, yet some countries member in the United Nations insist on applying illegal procedures like sanctions on other countries.

Al-Jaafari regretted the Human Rights Council's insistence to ignore the great efforts being exerted by the Syrian government to confront the armed terrorist groups and to ease alleviate the repercussions of the crisis in Syria.

Government cooperation to solve crisis

Al-Jaafari also affirmed that the Syrian government had provided all forms of cooperation to attain a peaceful solution to the political and humanitarian crisis in Syria, yet some countries which re directly involved in worsening the political and humanitarian situation in Syria are keen to adopt unilateral politicized decisions that force Syria to concede its sovereignty and rights.

He criticized the Council's silence regarding Israel's refusal to implement tens of council's decisions concerning Israel's violations of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories and in the occupied Syrian Golan.

Al-jaafari asserted that the council's politicized decisions give a blow to efforts exerted to have a human rights council that treats all human rights violations around the world in clear standards.

"Such decisions hinder the objective role played by international parties to put an end to the crisis in Syria and they encourage intransigence in rejecting the holding of Geneva2 conference and in going further in shedding the Syrian blood," he said.

He condemned Qatar's blatant interference in Syria's internal affairs through recruiting and supporting terrorists to destroy Syria and kill innocent people.

Information Minister: Syrian Army is Progressing on Whole Syrian Territory

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Minister of Information Omranal-Zou'bi stressed that the Syrian Army is progressing in challenging terrorism on the whole Syrian territory and that the field scene on the ground has changed and is irreversible.

In an interview with the Syrian TV yesterday, al-Zou'bi said that " The progress achieved by the army is clear on the ground in all directions the same as in the statements of the Western political , regional leaderships , supporting terrorists , in talking about the start of the collapse and disintegration of the terrorist project against Syria."

He indicated that the Syrian army has been always able to achieve victory in the face of terrorism and is capable at all times to decide the battle , but wanted to avail the opportunity in many areas for civilians to come out ,and for some militants to change their minds and to resort to reconciliation and mediation efforts in some areas.
Al-Zou'bi stressed that the only option for the army in the face of terrorist murderers who came across the border to carry out massacres and attacks against the Syrians and their infrastructure , is confrontation whose findings and implications are manifested in achieving progress and victories.

He explained that states supporting terrorism in Syria , especially, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey have no other option but to continue supporting terrorists , a matter which has dangerous implications not only on Syria , but also on those countries and regional security.

Al-Zou'bi added that the Syrian government has always been adopting the political track that passes through national dialogue and leads to tangible results , and agreed to go to Geneva without conditions so as to follow a political path and find political solutions to be approved by the Syrian people in a general referendum .

"A debate will take place in Geneva on the road to Geneva statement issued on June 30 , 2012 ," the minister explained , adding that the one who dreams that he is coming to Geneva to receive the keys to Damascus is someone silly , frivolous , of no value politically nor understands politics . "
He questioned the relationship between external opposition and the armed terrorist groups on the ground and whether they can demand them to stop killing and withdraw.
Al-Zou'bi stressed that the only solution for terrorism is to be eradicated and this is not the task of the Syrian government and its institutions , but also is an international responsibility as stated in UN resolutions and the Geneva statement which stressed the importance of countering terrorism by everyone.
" Israel has become a spokesman for some Gulf countries and that its interests are identical with the interests of Saudi Arabia because of the negotiations taking place between Iran and the Western countries ," the minister said , pointing out that the relationship between the two sides is old but has been in secret for many reasons, but today this relationship is progressing and spotlighted because of the pressuring conditions and the acceleration of events .
Al-Zou'bi stressed that any positive step in the region, including the negotiations between Iran and Western countries will help to achieve stability in the region and serve its countries , not just Iran

PA Speaker: Terrorism, Takfiri Mindset Threaten International Laws Human Values

DAMASCUS- Speaker of the People's Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Lahham has stressed that international laws and human values will be the target of world terrorism and extremist takfiri thinking if the UN organizations and the world Parliaments don't act to fight this mindset which tries to bring generations back to the ages of ignorance, backwardness and slavery.

Al-Lahham, who was speaking on Monday at the opening ceremony of a joint workshop between the People's Assembly and the United Nations Population Fund (UNPF), said that Syria has been among the first countries to open doors widely for cooperation with UN organizations starting from its faith in the organization's role in laying the foundations of real cooperation among countries, particularly on humanitarian issues.

The PA Speaker pointed out that the Syrians have been exposed to a real humanitarian disaster caused by the global war on Syria amid much of talk about international humanitarian assistance, but less action and amid financial support by oil countries to terrorist groups to buy weapons to kill the Syrians.

He held all countries which supported terrorism in Syria and backed takfiri thinking responsible for feeding terrorism overseas.
