Competent Authorities Seized artifacts Intended for Smuggling in Palmyra

HOMS,(ST)_Competent authorities seized yesterday several artifacts dating back to the first and second centuries AD, while inspecting a farm area near al-Madafen (cemetery) to the south of Palmyra city in rural Homs.

According to a source in the province, terrorists had excavated in the farms area and unearthed these pieces and hide them to be smuggled and sold outside Syria.

Minister Al-Moallem : readiness for cooperation and coordination as to combating terrorism

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Syria does welcome UNSC resolution 2170 and is fully committed to it, Walid Al-Moallem, Deputy Premier and Minister of Expatriates and Foreign Affairs declared here today.

Minister Al-Moallem added in a press conference at the Foreign Ministry headquarters that Syria hopes all countries would be committed to the chapter 7 resolution as to combat terrorism and stop its proliferation.

Minister Al-Moallem underlined the dire need for a serious commitment by all countries to the implementation of the said resolution, particularly the neighboring countries, citing  the negative roles played by Turkey and Qatar.

Miqdad: Syria is Fighting against Terrorism to Maintain its Sovereignty, Independence

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Faisal al-Miqdad stressed that "Syria today is fighting a battle against armed terrorist organizations in order to preserve its sovereignty, independence and resources."

In a seminar marking the 47th foundation anniversary of the General Federation of Women (GFW) Miqdad added that Syria’s victory over these terrorist organizations can not be attained without the role of Syrian women, pointing out that these organizations, which are killing humans "based its backwardness and practice primarily on controlling women.

Syrian Arab army closes in on Wadi Ein Tarma in Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, clashes with ISIL near Tabqa airbase in Raqqa

PROVINCES,(ST)_Army units have conducted a series of operations in the western countryside of Damascus a day after making more progress in the Eastern Ghouta battle, according to the official news agency (SANA).

The agency reported yesterday that the army units closed in on the entry of Wadi Ein Tarma in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus in the wake of eliminating many terrorists holed up in the northern farms of Mliha town.

Al-Mikdad: Zionist Entity a Mass Destruction Weapon Designed by West to Apply “Democracy” in ME

Beirut- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad has likened the Zionist entity, which killed tens of thousands of innocent Arabs and Palestinians, to the mass destruction weapon designed by western countries to apply their own “democracy” in the Arab region.

In an article published by the Lebanese “al-Binaa” newspaper on Saturday under the title “Weapons of Mass Destruction in the Middle East”, Mikdad said the number of Arab and Palestinian civilians killed by the Zionist entity is bigger than that of the Japanese victims of the American nuclear bombs which targeted Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.

More 435 wanted, gunmen turned themselves in to competent authorities

DAMASCUS Countryside,(ST)_ More than 254 gunmen and wanted persons from Madaya town in Rural Damascus who were involved in the current events turned themselves yesterday to the competent authorities to regularize their status.

According to a source at Damascus countryside police headquarters, status of 254 insurgents and wanted persons from Madaya was regularized, at the efforts of the national reconciliation committees after they pledged not to undertake any action that would prejudice the safety and security of the homeland.

ISIL dead bodies lying outside Tabqa airbase in Raqqa

Dozens of dead bodies of ISIL-linked terrorists can be seen lying on the outskirts of Tabqa airbase in northeastern Raqqa province, according to the official news agency (SANA).  

The agency made clear that the terrorists affiliated to the so-called the 'Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant' ISIL  (the former name of IS) were killed during attacks on the airbase over the past few days.
