The Syrian Scientific Olympiad team for Mathematics participates in the world Cyberspace Mathematical Competition

The Syrian Scientific Olympiad team for mathematics is participating in the first international Cyberspace Mathematics  Competition  "CMC" which is being held via the internet on Monday and Tuesday  by the American  Mathematical  Society (AMS).

The Excellence and Creativity Authority said in a statement, which SANA  received a copy of on Monday  that  students from more than 60 countries from all over the world  are participating in the competition which  includes two rounds of five continuous hours  during which students solve high-level issues in algebra and geometry  that  are similar to the issues of the World Olympics competitions.

The Syrian team participating in the competition, according to the statement, consists of eight  secondary  school students  . The students  are  distributed over three geographical centers in "Damascus, Aleppo and Tartous", where all the required technical measures were taken by the organizing committee of the competition, including broadcasting live video  of students as they submit tests from their centers.

The participation in this Olympiad is  an important preparatory step  for the Syrian Olympiad team  to participate in the world  Mathematical  Olympiad, which will be  “remotely”  organized by Russia  during next  September.

It is noteworthy that The Syrian scientific Olympiad  team had won five bronze medals and five certificates of appreciation in  the Asia-Pacific Olympiad for Mathematics competitions , which were  organized by Indonesia via the Internet on the 10th  of last March with the participation of about fifty countries.
