Syria calls on international humanitarian organizations to help lift sanctions on medical sector

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Health Minister Dr. Nizar Yazegy has underscored the need to increase the level of coordination between international health organizations and the Syrian Ministry of Health to fight coronavirus. 
 
The minister's remarks came during his meeting today with Resident Coordinator of UN in Syria Omran Reda and several representatives of International and Humanitarian Organizations that are working in Syria. 
 
Dr. Yazegy urged the hunanitarian organizations to seriously work on lifting the embargo imposed on Syria so that its health  sector will be able to fulfill its tasks. 
 
The minister affirmed that hospitals are ready to deal with suspected and confirmed coronavirus cases. 
 
For his part, UN resident coordinator asserted that UN organizations' support to Syria is still limited amid the outbreak of coronavirus globally .
