Al-Moallem, China Exim Bank's Chairperson Discuss Benefitting from Investment Opportunities in Syria

BEIJING, (ST)- Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem and Chairperson of the Export-Import Bank of China Hu Xiaolian discussed on Thursday the economic and financial situation in Syria and means of resuming and enhancing cooperation between the bank and the Syrian government in the coming era in order to ensure the necessary funding for the many Chinese companies that seek participation in reconstructing what the terrorist war on Syria has destroyed.

During the meeting, which comes within the framework of al-Moallem's visit to the People's Republic of China, the two sides discussed the big investment opportunities available in Syria for the countries that backed the Syrian state in its war on terrorism, mainly China based on Syria's policy of directing its relations eastward.

 Al-Moallem and Xiaolian agreed on intensifying contacts between the Syrian and Chinese governments in the coming era.

Al-Moallem also held a meeting with representatives of a number of Chinese companies which seek investment in Syria and participation in the country's reconstruction program. He presented a review about the coming process of reconstruction and listened to a review by the Chinese businessmen about their companies expertise and fields of work.

The two meetings were attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad, Syria's Ambassador in Beijing Imad Mustafa and the delegation accompanying Mr. al-Moallem.

Al-Moallem visits Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition 2019

On Wednesday, al-Moallem visited the Syrian pavilion at Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 currently held in Yanqing city near Beijing.

According to SANA, al-Moallem toured the pavilion and its departments and listened to a detailed explanation by supervisors on the activities held at the pavilion and on its contents.

The Minister also toured the Chinese pavilion at the exhibition.

Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 was officially opened last month, and the Syrian pavilion is visited by a large number of Chinese and foreign citizens on a daily basis.
