Syria Welcomes Joint Declaration of Russian-Iranian-Turkish Summit in Sochi

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria has welcomed the joint declaration of the tripartite summit between the presidents of Russia, Iran and Turkey  held on Wednesday in the Russian city of Sochi.

 An official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates told SANA on Wednesday that " the Syrian government welcomes the joint declaration of the summit starting from the keenness of Syrian Arab Republic on supporting every political work that respects Syria's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity and that contributes to stopping the shedding of the Syrian blood.

 The source added that the summit held in Sochi come in completion of the Russian-Syrian summit held on Monday and which resulted in agreement on pressing ahead with fighting terrorism, on main principles for organizing the political process to solve the crisis in Syria, on holding the Syrian National Dialogue Congress, on forming a committee to discuss the articles of the present constitution and on holding parliamentary elections later.

In a press conference after the conclusion of the tripartite summit in Sochi between Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia, Hassan Rouhani of Iran and Recep Tayyib Erdogan of Turkey, president Putin announced that the joint declaration specified prospects of future cooperation between the three countries to solve the crisis in Syria. He said "we agreed to exert more efforts as to attain stability in Syria and maintain its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity. We stressed the need to enhance cooperation in order to defeat Daesh, Jabhat al-Nusra and other terrorist groups". He pointed out that the successes being achieved in the battle against terrorism open a new era to settle the crisis in Syria.
