Fire erupts in a number of shops in Damascus

Damascus - Fire Fighters and Civil Defense controlled the fire erupted Saturday in a number of commercial shops in Damascus.

Earlier Saturday, a fire erupted and dense smoke rose in a number of commercial shops at the vicinity of Damascus citadel, al-Assrounia area in ancient part of Damascus.


Director of Damascus Civil Defense, Brigadier General Jihad Mousa said that fire fighters together with civil defense succeeded in preventing the fire from extending to more commercial markets by limiting it from different sides, pointing out that the efforts are exerted to extinguish the fire completely, SANA reported.

Gen. Mousa indicated that the fire, erupted by power contact, left a big material damage to the markets.
