President Rouhani Says Iran Backs Unified Iraq

President Hassan Rouhani says Iran invariably backs a “united and integrated” Iraq, warning against attempts by certain foreign powers to deal a blow to regional stability and security.

At a Sunday meeting with Nechirvan Barzani, the prime minister of Iraq’s Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), President Rouhani said “all regional countries and ethnicities are duty-bound to defend a federal administration and help secure border demarcations in the region.”

“Indisputably, extra-regional powers and forces do not and will not feel any sympathy for people of the region,” said the Iranian chief executive.

Jordanian King Wants East al-Quds as Capital of Palestinian State

Jordanian King Abdullah II bin al-Hussein has criticized US President Donald Trump's recognition of al-Quds as the capital of Israel, stating that East al-Quds must be the capital of a future independent Palestinian state.

During talks with US Vice President Mike Pence in Amman on Sunday, King Abdullah pointed to the so-called two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, saying the US move would fuel radicalism.

“For us, Jerusalem (al-Quds) is key to Muslims and Christians, as it is to Jews. It is key to peace in the region and key to enabling Muslims to effectively fight some of our root causes of radicalization,” he said.

World Indebted to Resistance Axis for Beating Takfirism

TEHRAN-Senior Iranian commander Major General Qassem Soleimani praised the axis of resistance for defeating terrorists in Syria and Iraq, saying such a major victory against Takfiri groups, which had 7,000 suicide attackers, has greatly contributed to calm in the region and the world.

Addressing a cultural ceremony on Thursday, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Quds Force Major General Soleimani said a victory for Takfiri terrorists in Syria and Iraq “could have changed the history of the region and the world’s path”.

“In this event (rise of terrorists in Syria and Iraq), the Takfiri groups, either under the name of Daesh (ISIL) or others, emerged in a more frightening way than any other group. They had around 7,000 suicide forces,” the general said, according to Tasnim News Agency.
