Prayers in Saint Georges Patriarchal Cathedral in Bab Touma in memory of the martyrs of the Ottoman genocide against the Syriacs

Damascus (ST): To commemorate the martyrs of the Ottoman genocide massacres against the Syriacs, a prayer was held in the Saint Georges Patriarchal Cathedral in Bab Touma.

His Holiness Mar Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of Antioch and the Whole East for the Syriac Orthodox, the supreme head of the Syriac Church in the world, affirmed in his speech that prayer is held in order to remember what happened to the Syriacs and others of the genocide, as millions of Christians and other residents of the region were subjected to extermination .He prayed for the peace of the world because man deserves to live in security and peace, which is what God wanted for all of humanity.
After the prayer, a candlelight procession was held from St. George’s Patriarchal Cathedral to the Syriac Martyrs Garden, where His Holiness Patriarch Ephrem II laid a wreath at the memorial to the martyrs of the Ottoman genocide against the Syriacs.
