Lattakia team comes first in the Republic’s Championship of Junior Kickboxing

Lattakia team ranked first in the Republic’s Championship for junior kickboxing. This Championship was held using the shadow fight technique through video recording and the Internet.

Lattakia team players, Ihsan Ibrahim (above 42 kg) won one gold medal, Haydar Maa’mar (32 kg) won one silver medal and Aous Setri Deep (32 kg) won a bronze medal while Sedra Haydar (junior – female) won one gold medal in her category.

Head of the Kick Boxing technical committee in Latakia Basil Hattab said that the wide spread sports of kickboxing in Lattakia led to these good results of Lattakia team , according to SANA.

It is to be mentioned that the Republic’s Championship of Kickboxing for the other categories will be held next week.


Syrian Basketball Federation conducts online training projects to enhance coaches' skills

DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Syrian Basketball Federation has invested in the stoppage of sport activities, which comes in line with the government's measures to confront Coronavirus pandemic, by conducting several online training projects in coordination with a number of local and foreign experts.

The projects, which included state of the art methods of training, witnessed great interaction by basketball coaches who aim at boosting their skills and the performance of players.

The coaches affirmed that such initiatives provide an opportunity for local coaches to contact with other local and foreign counterparts so as to exchange expertise in order to enrich their training knowledge and skills, thereby enhancing the players' performance and contributing to the development of the Syrian basketball sport.

Dummar Sports Club sterilizes many streets and facilities in Dummar

Dummar Sports Club carried out a sterilization mission to clean and wash the streets and facilities in the western and eastern areas of Dummar suburb to keep the citizens safe from Coronavirus.

In a statement to SANA, Khaled Abdel Razzaq, head of the Dummar club said that the mission aimed to sterilize the streets and establishments in Wadi Al-Sail, Hawakir Al-Sabara, Dummar Bridge, Al-Harra Al-Jadida and Mashroua’ Dummar, indicating that the club is participating in all social, sports and cultural activities.

Abdel-Razzaq added that since the sport activities stopped the club has implemented a work schedule for its playerswhere they stay in their homes and continue their training online under the supervision of coaches.

Abdul Razzaq indicated that the club is keeping in touch with its players on social media and that the club has announced a competition for the best method which aims to fight Coronavirus.

It is to be mentioned that Dummar social and sports club was established in 1991 and includes boxing, taekwondo, judo and table tennis games, in addition to football U-16. Besides, the club boasts that many of its players have become professional and joined  our national teams.


Sepp Blatter : “Political intervention” granted the right to host the 2022 World Cup to Qatar

Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter affirmed that that there was “political intervention” in the decision to grant the right to host the 2022 World Cup to Qatar.

Blatter, who had occupied the position of FIFA President for 17 years until 2015, explained that there was agreement in the FIFA Executive Committee to assign the 2018 World Cup to Russia and the 2022 World Cup to the United States of America.

Tunisia's Nabil Maaloul appointed head coach of Syria's national football team

DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Syrian Football Federation announced on Wednesday the appointment of the Tunisian football coach Nabil Maaloul as the head coach of the Syrian national football team which is due to participate in the 2020 World Cup and Asian Cup Qualifiers.

Following his appointment, Maaloul tweeted “I am happy to be appointed as Syria’s new head coach and delighted with the Syrian Football Federation’s trust in me.”

 “Our primary objective is to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar” he said.
