The Health Ministry: National vaccination campaign targeting children under five years of age to kick off on Monday

The Health Ministry is to launch a national vaccination campaign next Monday targeting children under the age of five in all Syrian provinces.

According to Dr. Fadi Qissis, Director of the Ministry’s Preliminary Healthcare Department, the vaccination campaign, which will last until April 13, includes providing all the 11 vaccines listed in the National Vaccine Program. The campaign will coincide with the regional routine vaccination week which is organized by the World Health Organization in the Mediterranean area with the aim of enhancing routine vaccination.

On her part, Director of the National Vaccination Program, Dr. Razan Al-Tarabishi, said that more than 2,780 million children will benefit from this vaccination campaign which will be conducted in a thousand health center, 655 medical points and 568 mobile clinics.

The vaccination process aims at reducing the mortality rate among children under the age of five and at protecting them from infectious diseases.  

Corona virus kills two million and 802 thousand people around the world

According to the site, the total number of Coronavirus infections around the world reached 128,194,104, and the total deaths reached 2802976 cases, while the total cases of recovering from the virus reached 103,349,132 cases.

 According to the site, the total number of Coronavirus infections around the world has reached 12,7738,764, and the total deaths reached 2795325 cases, while the total cases of recovering from the virus reached 1,02893147 cases. The United States continues to lead the countries most affected by the virus in terms of infections and deaths, with 562457 deaths out of 30955753 infections, followed by Brazil with 312,206 deaths out of 12534688 cases, then India third, recording 161881 deaths out of 12039210 infections.

Syrian, Russian physicians discuss cooperation on providing Syria with prostheses

A team of Syrian physicians is currently on a several-day visit to Moscow with the aim of enhancing Syrian-Russian medical cooperation. The team met on Friday with the physicians of the Federal Medical Biophysical Center to discuss providing Syria with prostheses and helping the Syrian health system in surpassing the impacts of the terrorist war that has been hitting the country.

The Zvezda TV Channel, run by the Russian Ministry of Defense, reported that a delegation of Syrian physicians from Tishreen Military Hospital and Al-Assad University Hospital visited the Federal Medical Biophysical Center in Moscow and took part in conducting prostheses fitting operations there.

Mufeed Darweeish, Director of Tishreen Hospital, told Zvezda TV that the delegation participated in a surgery to replace prostheses and discussed several issues relating to assisting Syria in securing prostheses and recovering the Syrian healthcare system which has been damaged massively due to the terrorist war on Syria."

Health Minister reviews with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross the work of the Committee in Syria

Damascus (ST): The Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghobash discussed with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Peter Maurer, and his accompanying delegation, the committee's work in Syria, and ways to enhance health cooperation.

Dr. Al-Ghobash stressed the need for the Committee to raise the degree of coordination in the health field with the ministry to achieve a better and faster response, especially in dealing with the Covid 19 pandemic, pointing to the importance of raising the voice in order to end the economic blockade and the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria that affect the citizen in his health and livelihood.
