Diab: Lebanon has entered a dangerous phase of Corona outbreak

Lebanese Caretaker Prime Minister Hassan Diab has warned that Lebanon has entered a dangerous stage in terms of the outbreak of  the Corona epidemic.

Diab said during the meeting of Lebanese Ministerial Committee on Confronting the epidemic today  "All indications about the outbreak of the Corona epidemic clearly indicate that we have entered the stage of severe danger or at the minimum, we are at the gates of this stage."

Corona infections around the world exceed 90 million

 On January 10th, the number of new Coronavirus infections around the world exceeded ninety million, while  deaths exceeded one million and 935 cases, according to the latest statistics of the American World Meter website.

The website reported that the number of infections in the world has reached 90,093,060 since the emergence of the virus at the end of the last year 2019, and the number of deaths 193,5074, while the total number of people recovering from the virus has reached 64,489,101 cases. 

The United States continues to top the list of countries most affected by the virus, with 22 million, 699, 938 cases, and 381 480 deaths, followed by India, with 1,0451346 cases and 151,048 deaths, and Brazil is third, with 8075998 infections.

Lebanon records the highest daily number of infections from Covid-19

Lebanon has recorded its highest daily number of deaths and new infections from coronavirus due to the people's non-adherence to health measures.
5000 cases have been recorded daily while 20 patients died from Covid-19 yesterday.
Lebanon began a 25-day nationwide lockdown last Thursday to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Cyprus imposes complete closure to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic

Nicosia (ST): Cyprus has announced its intention to impose a complete closure in the country to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic after the failure of the current measures in lowering the number of daily infection cases in the country.

France Press Agency quoted the Cypriot health minister Constantinos Ioannou  as saying that the new measures, which will take effect as of next Sunday until the end of January, aim to protect the health sector in the country underlining the importance for citizens to stay at home to stop the spread of the pandemic.

Corona virus infections exceed 86.3 million worldwide

Capitals (ST): The US registered 100053 new coronavirus infection cases during the last 24 hours bringing the total number of infections to about 22 million. 

According to the worldometer website about 1532 death cases were also registered yesterday raising the total number of deaths from this fatal virus to 367196.

In India, the total number of infection cases exceeded 10 million after registering 12538 new cases whereas the number of deaths resulting from corona virus reached 150272.

In Brazil, 13609 new infection cases were registered raising the number of infections to about 8 millions.
