With the participation of 155 male and female students who were qualified from the finals of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad, the tests to select the global teams for the Syrian Scientific Olympiad 2021 in the specializations of “mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and informatics” were launched today at Ebla Hotel and Umayyad Palace for Conferences in Damascus.

These tests, according to the statement of Nabug Yassin, Director of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad at the Excellence and Creativity Authority, come within the new mechanisms adopted by the Excellence and Creativity Authority for the current season to encourage diligence and training, to raise the level of knowledge and develop students ’abilities. These tests are done in the same international pattern so that students get used to this type of tests which includes long tests for a period of 4 to 5 hours. These tests require the students to  have the ability to focus for a long time and develop a strategy for the answer that  manages both  time and the difficulty of the questions. The student must also have a skill in the language, given that some of the questions are given in the English language.

Yassin indicated that, according to the results of these tests, the authority will form a reserve team alongside the main team, with the aim of increasing training opportunities and raising the spirit of competition in search of the most distinguished to participate in the World Olympiad competitions.
