Syria wins a bronze medal in the International Info (1) Cup programming competition

The Syrian Science Olympiad team won a bronze medal in the International info (1) Cup programming competition organized online by Romania with the participation of students from 13 countries.

The Syrian Distinction and Creativity Agency said in a statement on Monday that student Hussein Ahmad Bousbeit from Al-Bassel High School for Outstanding Students in Damascus won the bronze medal after a five-hour test.

This is the Syrian Science Olympiad Team’s first participation in an international contest for the year 2021, the agency added. It indicated that Syria’s team included four participants two of them had joined the national team on January 2021.

The competition aims at encouraging talented young people in the field of informatics and evaluating their knowledge in order to qualify them for participating in the International Olympiad in Informatics and to develop their skills in this specialization.

 Syria's last official participation in this competition was in 2019, during which the Syrian Science Olympiad team won one silver and two bronze medals.
