Al-Ghouta spring -flowers in full bloom

Damascus countryside,(ST)- The rich Ghouta of Damascus goes back to its former era as the Syrian people knew it, a land of goodness, generosity and production, a land of everything beautiful.

Today, Ghouta regains its health and prestige after the return of the people to their homes and lands, which  terrorism had  obliged them to leave for years.

A dead minke whale found on Syria’s Banias shore

TARTOUS, (ST)- Fishermen in the Syrian coastal city of Tartous pulled  a dead minke whale near a deserted shore in al-Kharab area in Banias.

 Director of the Coastal Region Branch of the Fish Resources General Authority Alaa al-Sheikh Ahmad said in a statement to SANA on Tuesday that according to scientific references, the whale is classified as the “Northern Minke Whale”, pointing out that this kind of whale has not been observed previously on the shores of the Syrian Arab Republic. It is one of the species that lives in cold oceans, but it sometimes enters the Mediterranean basin, he clarified.

According to al-Sheikh Ahmad, the whale is 3,5 meters long, and it weighs 500 kg.

Syria participates in the meetings of the 43 session of the International Fund for Agricultural Development "IFAD"

Rome,(ST)- With the participation of Syria, the meetings of the 43rd session of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) will start today in the Italian capital, Rome.

The Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Eng. Ahmed Al-Qadri confirmed during a meeting with the President of the Fund, Gilbert Angbo, the depth of joint cooperation relations between the Syrian Ministry of Agriculture and the IFAD Fund, and  which has been in effect for more than 40 years. During that time many important development projects were implemented, like the continued cooperation through the "Integrated Livestock Development", which benefited about 78 thousand families, which constitute more than 300 thousand people.

The Medical and Aromatic Plants Project in Sweida

The Aromatic and Medical Plants Project of the General commission for   the Development, Management and Protection of  al-Badia   in  Sweida province  is an important step towards preserving the genetic assets of many plants and benefiting from them in various fields.

Reforestation campaign in Der Ezzour

The Agriculture Directorate in the city of Der Ezzour yesterday launched a reforestation campaign which included planting 2,500 trees of various types.

Eng. Mahmoud Al-Hayyo, Director of Agriculture, told SANA that the replanting project is carried out by a number of governmental sectors in cooperation with the local community. It aims at replanting the areas that were damaged by terrorist attacks.
