If Only the Sultan Would Listen!

He who sows the wind would but reap the whirlwind; and this is exactly what the Prime Minister of Turkey has been sowing for more than two years of the crisis in Syria. Erdogan's reckless and uncalculated blind policies in supporting the extremists, takfiri, wahabi and terrorist groups in Syria have indeed crossed every red line and logic. All of a sudden, in implementation for a US-Israeli scheme paid for by the ewes and petrodollars, Erdogan made a U-turn in his relationship with Syria and left no stone unturned as to down the legitimate government of Syria and impose his affiliates of Moslem Brotherhood on the Syrians!

With this in mind, the Economist, on June 8th, 2013, published an interesting report about the ongoing anti-Erdogan protests in Turkey, which is in major part, according to many observers and analysts, the result for Erdogan's crazy policies towards Syria. According to the Economist, the protests are a sign of rising dissatisfaction with Erdogan, Over 4,000 people have been hurt and over 900 were arrested; three have died….But only after this first protest was met by horribly heavy-handed policing did the blaze spread, via Twitter and other social media. A local dispute turned national because its elements—brutal police behaviour and mega-projects rammed through with a dismissive lack of consultation—serve as an extreme example of the authoritarian way Erdogan now runs his country.

''The real lesson of these events is about authoritarianism: Turkey will not put up with a middle-class democrat behaving like an Ottoman sultan,'' said the Economist, citing the worries about Erdogan, who  once called democracy a train from which you get off once you reach the station. He is disdainful of the cosmopolitan bourgeoisie of Istanbul and Izmir. His party’s religious roots led many to fear the Islamisation of Ataturk’s proudly secular state: a new law restricting alcohol sales lent credence to those worries.

The Economist underlined that  there were many in Erdogan’s Justice and Development party who, like its co-founder, Turkey’s president, Abdullah Gul, disapprove of the prime minister’s authoritarianism and find his interpretation of democracy too narrow; ''The problem is not Islam but Erdogan. He has a majoritarian notion of politics: if he wins an election, he believes he is entitled to do what he likes until the next one. Sometimes, as in defanging the coup-prone army, he has used power well. But over time the checks on him have fallen away.  Justice and Development Party (AK) nominees fill the judiciary and AK people run the provinces; their friends win the big contracts. Erdogan has intimidated the media into self-censorship: as the protesters choked on tear gas, the television networks carried programmes about cooking and penguins.''

Erdogan, who missed no occasion to throw stones and fire balls at the neighbors, according to the Economist, imprisoned many journalists and ''locked up whole staff-colleges of generals. Within his own party, people are afraid to stand up to him. His self-belief long ago swelled into rank intolerance. His social conservatism has warped into social engineering.'' Thus, the Economist called on Erdogan, for two reasons, to abandon these ideas and prepare to pass leadership of AK, and executive power, to the more statesmanlike Mr. Gul at the next election. One is that many Turks are tiring of him …. And if Erdogan stays, he may find his country increasingly ungovernable.

The League of Ewes !

The League of ewes has been convened in an emergency session in Cairo as to hatch the more of plots against Syrians, and ironically in the name of Syrians themselves! Yesterday's meeting came in tandem with the Syrians' al-Qusair purging of al-Qaeda affiliates, mainly supported by the most of the ewes themselves who assembled themselves in Cairo. This meeting is held this time not as the League frequent meetings to conspire against Syria and shed the more of Syrians blood.

The ewes, in fetters, following Al-Qusair purge, were still under shock, especially the Qatari and Saudi officials, whose reckless gamble on Al-Qusair went with wind, before hopefully the earth would tremble underneath. A hollow, dictated statement was issued following the meeting, which might be considered a face-saving one in a flagrant intervention in the daily lives of the Syrians. The ewes, whose hands are tainted with blood, bribery and treason, are adamant to dispatch the more of terrorists, takfiris and hired killers to terrorize the Syrians, and shamelessly call on the defenders of Syria to halt their defense. The ewes, who self-appointed themselves as talking on behalf of the Syrians, went so far in their dirty games and self-appointed themselves this time as a government for the Syrians.

Actually, this very league of ewes and Pale faces has no place in Syria and isn't welcome. A league controlled by the West, led by petrodollars and sheikhdoms of no constitution, of darkness, sand, and ignorance  conspirators should be dissolved and reconstructed as Arab and only national Arab one. It is now anything but not an Arab league. Yesterday's meeting is but a further Qatari sinister bid to kidnap the league through treason and petrodollars. The ewes should apologize from the league itself, which in the absence of Syria has no taste, color or odor, apart from treason. It is time, the league returned to Arabs, to Syria and the Resistance in particular.

The League, involved to the neck in the shedding of the Syrian pure blood, has no role to play in Syria. Enough is enough! The Syrians all together are fed up with destruction, provocation and sectarian hatred provoked and masterminded by the ewes. None in the world is able, however, to deny the Syrians their happiness over  the victory of Al-Qusair against the ewes-affiliates of terrorists from more than 30 countries.

Shrouded in Mystery!

Syria has ever been committed to dialogue among all Syrians as a means of political solution to the ongoing crisis in the country. The political leadership repeatedly underlined and asserted such a wise way out from the crisis and away from whatever foreign meddling and intervention. Thus, many measures, steps were taken, decrees and laws issued, including the amendment, in a popular referendum, of the Syrian Constitution itself, particularly Article 8 regarding the Baath Arab Socialist Partly leading role, and definite presidential terms.

Amid the much of talking about a possible Geneva 2 meeting, as called for by Russia and the USA, the political solution for the crisis, expectedly not to be different from the most objective solution outlined in H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad's January 6th landmark speech, highlighted in the Syrian Government political plan for the solution, seems, unfortunately, to be shrouded in mystery due to the destructive policies pursued by some Arab and foreign countries!

The Syrians are indeed aware of the sinister schemes and plots hatched against their country, as well as of the huge Gulf, Turkish and Western backing to terrorists on the ground.   Thus, as H.E. President Al-Assad, declared in his recent interview with Al-Manar TV, the coming Geneva talks- if any- might possibly fail  because " there are states that are obstructing the meeting in principle, and they are going only to avoid embarrassment. They are opposed to any dialogue whether inside or outside Syria. Even the Russians, in several statements, have dampened expectations from this conference."

However, "we should also be accurate in defining this dialogue, particularly in relation to what is happening on the ground. Most of the factions engaged in talking about what is happening in Syria have no influence on the ground; they don’t even have direct relationships with the terrorists. In some instances these terrorists are directly linked with the states that are backing them, in other cases, they are mere gangs paid to carry out terrorist activities."

"So, the failure of the conference will not significantly change the reality inside Syria, because these states will not stop supporting the terrorists - conference or no conference, and the gangs will not stop their subversive activities."

With this in mind, came the recent revelations by the Independent: Patrick Cockburn, wrote on Sunday 2 June, that "There may be a more sinister reason why the US has started setting the bar so high for talks. Washington's involvement is greater than appears because so much of it goes through Qatar, with the CIA determining who gets arms and money sent via Turkey. This would also explain why Britain and France are so keen to send the "rebels" weapons

Cockburn  concluded that the explanation for the actions of the Western states may be that they do not want the war to end except as a victory for their allies….And Britain and France are playing a small but mischievous role in ensuring the slaughter in Syria continues.

Arming the Terrorists Would but Worsen the Crisis

According to the Daily Telegraph, the majority of EU countries, including Germany, were opposed to supplying arms to the Syrian opposition, because they think arming the terrorists would but worsen the crisis in Syria amid concerns about its spill over to all of the Middle East.

Almost all EU countries, added the Daily,  wanted to postpone the decision until after US-Russia peace talks in Geneva next month, an argument that Britain and France countered would bolster Syrian Government negotiating hand.

Following the publication of this item of news, several comments of interest were made by the Daily readers under the title: ''supplying arms to the Syrian opposition would only fan the flames of war'' and extend the area of conflict.

Barry Bond, Leigh on Sea, Essex , wrote: you correctly make the case that feeding more arms from Britain into Syria can only make the situation worse (Leading article, May 29). Have we no shame in continuing to cause destabilization and misery in Middle Eastern countries, especially since the invasion of Iraq in 2003? In the case of Syria there is long-standing, active support for the existing regime by Russia and other major powers. The supply of arms by EU countries to the opposition will feed the flames of war in Syria and increase the possibility of extending the area of conflict. Inevitably, relations with Russia will begin to deteriorate towards Cold War conditions. Can we concentrate instead on trying to save Britain from economic disaster?

John Hill, Maidstone, Kent, said that one presumes that an estimate of the cost of the arms to be supplied to Syria will be made, and authorization given for that expenditure. Would it not be in Britain’s best interests, at home and abroad, to use that money and more to relieve the plight of the refugees from the conflict?

Once again a British government is attempting to untie a Gordian knot of foreign politics, sectarian hatred, tribal malevolence and foreign sedition, for which it will receive thanks from some and hatred from many more. Why can’t this country be seen trying to heal the wounds of conflict instead of creating more?

Timothy Stroud, Salisbury, Wiltshire, pointed out that the latest opinion poll (from the Pew Research Centre) shows that nearly 60 per cent of the British population do not want to see arms supplied to Syrian ''rebels''. It is about time the Government woke up to the reality of democratic society, and stopped pretending that it has an inherited right to do as it pleases.

Joe Emery, Standlake, Oxfordshire wondered  if the United Nations Security Council has been disbanded. It has responsibility under the UN Charter for world peacekeeping and world security but that is lost amid the scramblings of self-appointed world policemen anxious to get involved in another country’s internal affairs.

The Side Effects and Taste of Terrorism

The excessive bloody reactions of the Turkish Government of Erdogan to the Turkish peaceful demonstrators at Taksim square and tens of Turkish cities  raise many questions and exclamations. Hundreds of Turks have been harassed, tear-gassed and savagely beaten and dispersed by Turkish Police, when the Turkish Army has been mobilized to secure Erdogan's government headquarters and other places.

Does Erdogan realize the side effects and taste of terrorism, self-made by his own government, as to kill the Syrians. The Turkish friendly people are indeed fed up with Erdogn's flagrant  support to terrorists in Syria. Such a support is considered by many analysts as one of the main reasons for the Friendly Turks wrath, disappointment and anger. When it came to a mere  simple demonstration against Erdogan's plans for building a complex at Istanbul's Taksim squire, Erdogan has mobilized tens of thousands of his police and army personnel, injuring, killing and arresting the tens of innocent Turks; what if they were cannibals, takfiris, hired killers!

Indeed " Erdogan's suppression of the peaceful protests in Turkey is illogical and reveals his detachment from reality," as information Minister Omran al-Zoubi stated. "the brotherly Turkish people do not deserve this barbarity. Erdogan has no excuse to stand against his people's will .We wish stability and tranquility will engulf  the Turkish people. We call upon Erdogan to show sanity and not to deal with the Turkish people exactly as he did against Syria."

The friendly people of Turkey don't deserve to be governed by a butcher like Erdogan, who has been destroying all bridges with the neighbors, turning his country from a zero-problem with neighbors into a zero-friendship with them. Erdogan should be ashamed of himself as well as of his US supporters, who were the first to grill him. Politicians like Erdogan should immediately resign.
