Palestinian women have been participating in all forms of resistance, including armed resistance, for as long as the Palestinian people have fought for national liberation. More importantly, the struggle of Palestinian women is the history of all Palestinian people’s struggle.

For instance, in the 1930s, a militant women’s group called Zahrat Al-Okhowan was formed to fight the British occupation of Palestine.

The Israeli occupation authorities have been capitalizing on the unlimited support offered by the Trump's administration to press ahead and escalate its aggressive and racist policies against the Palestinian people. The Zionist government has accelerated the confiscation of the Palestinian lands and the construction of new settlement blocks. Israeli authorities demolished 197 Palestinian structures in West Bank during the first half of 2018 as the Tel Aviv regime presses ahead with its land expropriation policies in the occupied territories. Eight homes, 10 livelihood-related structures and four retaining walls or fences were destroyed last month.

Consecutive Zionist governments have been pressing ahead with the policy of  settlement construction to achieve sinister objectives, namely changing the geographic and demographic status of the occupied Arab territories paving the way for the influx of  thousands of Jewish incomers and perpetuating the Israeli occupation of the occupied Arab territories.

A United Nations report takes Israel to task for failing to abide by a 2016 Security Council resolution urging the regime to stop its settlement expansion on occupied Palestinian land, saying Tel Aviv has in fact taken “no steps” at all to that effect. The report is published every four months to recount the implementation of Resolution 2334.  As detailed in the report, no steps were taken during the reporting period to cease all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem  demanded by the resolution.

The continued  bombing of civilian houses in  Hasaka, Raqqa and other areas by the warplanes of the US-led international coalition is a clear evidence of the US support of terror groups and its unwillingness to reach a political  settlement for the crisis in Syria. These  crimes committed by the illegal coalition have claimed the lives of scores of civilians and caused huge material damage to public and private properties. The coalition’s persistence in committing massacres, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, along with its continuing support for terrorists and its exploitation of terrorists and separatist militias show that the Security Council is negligent in enforcing international law and in putting an end to the coalition’s hostile plots that target Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and seek to prolong the crisis.

The Security Council should shoulder its responsibilities by condemning such massacres and working to stop them from reoccurring, as well as working to end the hostile and illegal presence of US and other foreign forces in Syria.

The illegitimate US-led International Coalition's targeting of civilians in the villages of al-Hasaka, Raqqa and Deir Ezzor is a retribution for their refusal to join US-allied separatist militias.

The Coalition’s incessant aggressions targeting innocent Syrian civilians and Syria’s sovereignty, safety and territorial integrity is a blatant violation of the international law. The attacks are intended to punish the locals for their reluctance to join separatist militias allied to the United States.

The US has been restructuring relations with Daesh terrorists, integrating some within these militias and using others in mounting attacks against the Syrian Arab army’s sites with a view to recapturing areas the Syrian army and allies have liberated from terrorism.

The Coalition had not balked at providing overt military backing to Daesh terrorists against the Syrian army, the latest of which was on May 24 when its warplanes targeted military outposts for the Syrian army between al-Bukamal and Humaima in Deir Ezzor countryside 24 hours after the Syrian army managed to abort Daesh attack against these sites.

Palestine will remain the compass, and Jerusalem is our soul and identity, and it will remain our inspiration today and tomorrow. The Arabs cannot exist without resolving the Arab-Israeli conflict in a manner that guarantees their dignity and future.

Many demonstrations were staged in various world cities to express complete solidarity with the Palestinian people on the occasion of the International Day of Jerusalem which is annually marked on the last Friday of the Holy month of Ramadan.
