International parliamentarians: The terrorist war on Syria has unveiled the falsehood of the West’s claims about human rights

A decade-long terrorist war on Syria and a suffocating economic siege on the Syrians couldn’t break the Syrian people’s will to resist and continue their life.

In a recent video posted on her twitter account, Irish Member of the European Parliament Clare Daly exposed the foreign-backed terrorist war on Syria and the illegal and inhuman European and US sanctions imposed on the Syrians.

Responding to remarks by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel in which he said that “no end for sanctions on Syria, no normalization, no support for reconstruction until a political transition is underway,” Daly said that these remarks reflect Europe’s will to bring about an economic and humanitarian catastrophe in Syria instead of attaining the European values”.

“Are these the European values that we hear a lot about” Do the sovereign states have to bow to Western imperialism or be destroyed? I do not think so,” she said.

US, EU's claims about Syrian government using chemical weapons against its own people are pathetic

She clarified that what happened in Syria was carried out by terrorist organizations such as “Al-Nusra, ISIS and Al-Qaeda” which received military and logistical support from Turkey, the West and the Zionist entity.”

Daly said that “the US and the EU's claims that the Syrian government used chemical weapons against its own people in Douma are pathetic, particularly after whistleblowers from within the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) have exposed what happened and shown that the evidence was manipulated. She pointed out that this behavior reminds of the “phantom weapons of Mass destruction and dodgy dossiers from the Iraq war nearly 20 years ago”.

Daly went on to say that after the failure of the West in achieving its political agenda in Syria militarily- thanks to the success of the Syrian leadership and people in defeating and expelling terrorism and restoring security and stability to most of the Syrian territories with the help of Syria’s allies- the West imposed brutal unilateral coercive measures that the United Nations Special Rapporteur on sanctions described as violating the rights of the Syrian people.

On his part, Mick Wallace, another Irish EU parliament member criticized the EU’s policy of supporting terrorism in Syria and imposing sanctions on the Syrian people.

Sanctions destroy the ability of the Syrians to secure life requirements

In response to Borrel’s remarks, Wallace said that “the European Union supported the United States, the Israeli occupation entity and Turkey to overthrow the Syrian government. It also supports the illegal Caesar Act which violates human rights, as it was adopted to undermine the Syrian state and weaken the Syrian people.”

“Sanctions destroy the ability of the Syrians to secure life requirements, including health services, food and housing,” Wallace said, stressing that it is time for the European Union to tell the truth about Syria and to stop contributing to destroying the lives of millions of Syrians.

Turkey and the United States have plundered Syrian oil

Thierry Mariani, French Member of the European Parliament, said that the West has paid millions of dollars to support terrorist organizations that committed the most heinous crimes against the Syrians and displaced many of them. He added that Turkey and the United States have plundered Syrian oil, indicating that the US and Western sanctions have badly affected the Syrians ’daily lives.

“Let's not add another crime to the war crime committed against the Syrian people,” he said.

Tulsi Gabbard, former member of the US Congress, stressed that the sanctions imposed on Syria are devilish as they prevent the Syrian people from obtaining medicine, food and clean water.

She also said that there is another set of lies and a western propaganda around the scandal of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons about the alleged chemical attack in Syria’s Douma.
